Is Uber and Lyft good options for getting around vegas? I am just wondering if the rates are okay?

I thought the rates were "fine", like 13 dollars from Mandalay to venetian? Some variance, some waiting but nothing over thirty minutes.

Good to know, I was worried that the rates could be incredibly high but it appears that it should be comparable to normal rates.

I have also noticed the little eating spots off the strip are best? The food in the hotels/ casinos is crazy high and not very good I bet.

One thing to consider with Uber and Lyft is, at least in my area, drivers are impossible to come by now. A lot of them make more money from unemployment than working so the vast majority have simply stopped driving.

I have no idea if that’s the same for Vegas or if it’ll be that way by October/November.

I’d I’m not able to get a room at the Rio, what is a convenient hotel to stay at? Preferably on the strip.

Early reg (like Oct 1) will be safe 99.9% you think? Sure, if it sells out, that's great and no issue, but if it doesn't?

Not sure if still in operation, but some years ago I remember there was a free shuttle bus that would run continuously between Rio, Caesars, and Harrahs, like a loop between the three properties. Could check with Rio to see if shuttle bus still runs to other Caesar’s properties, save on Uber fare anyway.

I'm asking about the rake in the case of byes (do they keep all 1375 in rake or do they keep 687.50, which would be 5.5% of the effective buy-in because of the non-bye refund). Also, this event hasn't sold out ever. More than half of the players that played the '19 10k would have to play this 25k for it to sell out. Not saying it won't happen but if there were 128 spots I don't think it would fill.

Kevin, please make it best of 3, pretty please!

I think they stopped running that a year or two ago but I could be wrong.

Shut that down I think. Last I knew there was a shuttle that went from Gold Coast to The Orleans to the ferria wheel on the strip.

I actually think it has been at least two or three years?

Back in the day I used that shuttle a couple times but that was just a huge pita because you never really knew when it would come and for how long it would stand at Rio. I think I waited for almost 30 minutes one time. After that I just started walking if I was alone and my next stop was the Bellagio poker room anyway.

How much time is given for breaks? If I dont get a room at the Rio, is there another hotel nearby thats close enough where I could make it to my room and back before the break was over? Im not a huge fan of taking #2 in public.

Breaks are 15/20 minutes. Zero chance you are getting to any other hotel room and back on a break. It's gonna be snug to do that at the Rio.

The biggest benefit is the 45/60/90 minute dinner breaks where you definitely are going to have some solid room time at Rio but will be spending a lot of it commuting back and forth otherwise.

Dead on Black Aces- You really have to hall ass and get lucky on the elevators to make a Rio round trip room run during the breaks. But they are perfect for dinner breaks.

Even if you would we willing to use the restrooms, you'll be lucky to get to the front of the bathroom line during breaks. You may be better off adjusting your diet to prevent needing to go No 2 during the event.

It's well worth it to miss 1 or 2 hands and leave a couple minutes before the break to get in front of 100's of people headed to the bathrooms.

By doing that, I was able to hit bathroom and go grab a Starbucks and be back in my seat before break was over.

Yeah if you know the timing of the breaks then you can leave and never hit a blind usually the clock will hit <30 seconds I am folding and walking. You just want to make sure that the dealer won't quick deal another that could hit you with a folded blind.

Of course you could wake up with a high pair or A/KQJ and then you are playing through part of the break.

.....If I wait to register for each event on the day they start will I run into long lines?.....
Yes and no. It depends on time of day/what events are running etc.

If your first time I'd recommend checking Rio out ~day before, getting to know the different tournament room locations, table locations, bathroom locations, snack bars etc. Then checking how long registration lines are and buy in beforehand. When you buy in beforehand you'll get table and seat on your ticket and you can scout that out and know ahead of time where to go. There are cash games running there also and plenty else to see/merchandise stands etc. Fun to walk around and look for big name pros.

What if you do not know any big name pros? I have played with high stack pros and actors and some I had no clue as to who they were while playing. Some I have gotten to know quite well and some I consider degenerate gamblers who would play off their last dollar to grind out 2.

yep, and I am not the fanboy type that hangs around the rail or the action after I am put out regardless of remaining payouts.

It has been a long drought for every poker player and I look for this years WSOP event to be the largest possibly since 2006 and 2018.

You have to know odds and math plays a roll but are most all pros playing GTO methods now.

Pro tip - learn where the outside restrooms are. The lines tend to be shorter. In past years you could follow the signs to All American Dave's.

As for registration lines, they can be extremely long for the big weekend events around start time and you might wind up on an alternate list. Register the night before and you're usually fine.
