For those who don't have access to the movie, here is a pretty short summary of it. I was waiting for the end for when they just stake him. Having said that it was shot well, they did a helluva job using old clips and interviews.

Talk about a bang average documentary ... Most of the Berkey stuff was just cringe and Oscar is pretty hard to root for/care about, so that's like 1/2 of the documentary down the tubes. I liked the player interviews and some of the WSOP classics, but that's about it. The ending was kind of silly, "they're offering me $100 an hour for coaching", FFS ...

Documentary is pretty interesting, only I have more and more aversion to term "Poker dream". What is Poker dream? Poker dream mostly means "I hope I will find a lot of people who play cards for fun and take their money thanks to my pro skills", if we skip deluded donating bad regs. I mean it's still legal, but nothing to talk about.

I absolutely loved the documentary but like others have pointed out I think they could have picked a better candidate than Oscar. He came off as a loser with no drive or motivation. The highlight moment of his life is getting into a car accident then buying a crib in the NJ slums. I'm shocked Berky would take a chance on him

you can't seriously be trying to argue that poker ISN'T a dying game in 2021? edges are drying up, sites are taking more rake every year, there is 1-2 fish at the higher stakes tables in live..

it's not getting any better and if you're smart enough to make it in poker, you can make it elsewhere without the limited ceiling that poker offers. and way less stress as well.

covid was a great test on that- if you missed out then that's your own fault

Where? American sites either don't offer HS or they barely run. Stars doesn't have anywhere near the games, and even GG doesn't get a ton of games going at those stakes. I don't play that high, but from what I see the ability to play 25/50+ is dramatically less than even 5 years ago. Are we talking private games and apps? 2K and below seems to be alive and well across the Internet, though.

Kind of unrelated, but did Berkey actually once use the phrase "seismic showdown value pivots?" I remember seeing a list of mostly dumb phrases that he's uttered, but that one was by far the dumbest
