While I consider myself someone who works hard to stay mindful of shifting language trends, I'm also someone who truly believes in the importance of context. As such, I completely agree with this post.

Not sure if this is a perfect equivalent, but if I hear an 80-year-old refer to a "colored guy," I have a different reaction than if I hear a 30-year-old do the same -- even if it's the same phrase, same tone, same context. (In fact, the octogenarian probably thinks he IS saying the "correct" word.)

Similarly, 2011 is fairly recent, but it's just long ago enough to have experienced such a cultural shift in language. If I heard someone say that in 2021, I certainly could think less of the speaker. If I hear it (or read it) from something in 2011, I chalk it up to "well, those were the times." I'm not saying it was right 10 years ago, only that it hadn't yet been held up as something of which Berkey expected to be mindful.

I still play some 500/1k on wsop and I would probably bet on berkey after seeing his SN. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though, I don't grind a ton these days.

Berkey is definitely a smart guy. A decent poker player who gets into amazing games. A marketing genius. And with solve for why, he's clipped millions out of the poker ecosystems. How does that make him a regfish? Sure looks like he's crushing it to me.

Yes, when he sits at the actual tables he's playing no where near GTO. Yes, he's almost surely a dog in tough line ups. Better call up his bank and let them know his money is no good, wasn't made in a 2+2 approved way.

None of that has anything to do with his poker skill, which is what is being discussed. Nothing wrong with what he's doing, but his pretending to be some elite player because he uses big words is very cringe. That's most of why people hate on S4Y. They try to come off as geniuses while talking in circles.
