Pokerstars making a push to buy Jivaro? Pokerstars making a push to buy Jivaro?

Jivaro is a company based out of Iceland that has one of the cleanest ui's of any HUD. With the recent mandates passed down on what is ok per TOS it seems as if they would be the clean favorite.

The premium version of the HUD is very easy to use and the stats are simple to learn with a 3 minute tutorial.

the only downfall at the moment is that there isn't a Mac client available yet. Once this dev is complete the transaction may take place

Are you implying stars will provide a basic hud?

Sounds like a great way to level the playing field a bit. If they do it I wonder if they will include a player's lifetime stats or only stats for hands that you played against a given player.

Going to suck for the major hud supplier.

What makes you think and imply that Pokerstars are looking at buying a HUD provider?

It's going to suck for the whole analysis software industry right?

Essentially haven't they banned everything and now they are pretty much going to buy a company at a discount due to this and when done it will likely be the only worthwhile company left essentially closing an entire market?

There are a few facts mixed in with more rumors that leads me to this conclusion.

Anyone who thinks it's impossible I'd love to hear why.

But why would they?

Passwords point makes sense only if they were to continue to charge the monthly fee to its users. If Stars decided to give everyone a jivaro like HUD for free why would they buy it instead of just making thier own? How would they recoup what they bought Jivaro for? Is just having the rights to Jivaro worth it? How many people use it vs HEM or PT? I dont know if having the rights alone and only gaining new paid users from sites other than PS would generate enough revenue.

Then why don't you start with the facts?

Although buying a company and then giving a basic hud for all users for free doesn't seem smart business wise it actually might be.

If rec players saw via a HUD that they are playing way looser than the rest of the table they might come to a reasonable conclusion that the reason they are losing consistently is because of their loose passive style. Without a built in HUD (that's free) they likely would never come to this conclusion.

Since this HUD will help improve their play, their deposits will last longer and Pstars will get a higher percentage of rake compared to them going busto too quickly. Having a longer life-cycle per deposit will also make the rec players feel better about their experience and will be more inclined to re-deposit.

I have no idea about whether Stars is thinking of going this route, but if they do these are the benefits for them.

This^^^^

Also with the fact that many recs feel that people with a hud are cheating them. Pokerstars could appear as the white knight making it fair for all players by having a default hud therefor taking away advantage to those who do not have one

I'm in the information trading business. I made a reasonable assumption laced with facts to help others understand.

Most stars pros have been seen using Jivaro as s HUD on twitch. The two companies have met. Jivaro was very prompt when responding to people if they were still legal. These responses contained some interesting language.

Now how can you help build this thread?

Once again Pokerstars could come out as good guys, if they figure the way to prevent the games from drying up is to educate fish as best as possible.

Pokerstars school exists for educating but why not make the game more fair by having a decent hud that both professionals and recreational players can benefit from to equal the playing field a bit.

The real pros of today poker are already more advanced than just using a hud pro can play.
They don't really care and even stream themselves playing on twitch or coach online.

I think the anti hud crowd is nuts and wrong in their views.
People will need to get better and have these huds to fight the massive botting that is to come for a small bit of time till something stops bots or its over.

Online poker != live poker, folks.

Right now Jivaro has a free "Basic" version and a $5.99/mo "Premium" version. I could see Pokerstars integrating the Jivaro HUD into their client with everyone having automatic access to the "Basic" version and charging a monthly fee for access to the enhanced "Premium" version.

It's the HUD that Jaime Staples uses.
You could start by presenting your facts and what rumors you have heard.

Without any actual information, this thread has more chance of deletion than growth.

This is interesting for sure, but is it mostly speculation/rumours at this point?

A poker site is not going to give certain players an advantage over others if they're willing to pay a premium.

Doesn't he still use PT4 along side it as well?

I thought the PS Pros, Team Online and Jaime Staples using Jivaro was more about the money they were throwing at those players than anything else. Listening to them talk about how great it is, while they previously used superior software is laughable.

I'd really like to think that PS are moving towards no third party software though rather than pimping crap like Jivaro.

Understandable. Jivaro is the most rec-friendly HUD out there.
Imagine a rec using PT4 with all the numbers.

would make sense because they didnt put it on the banlist considering it doesnt just provide "raw data" as in numbers with the fancy bars around the avatar, just a visual image of said numbers but still, that can be said for alot of stuff that is prohibited.

The skill gap between pros and recs is way too big.

Helping to level the playing field and giving recreational players a friendly easy to use hud is a great way to go

Or maybe a poorly conceived guerilla marketing attempt? Post a rumor on 2p2 to let people know about a product they've never heard of before except they won't buy it because they think they might wind up getting it for free.

Sounds like a pump and dump.

If they want to give away a HUD then could design a basic one of their own for peanuts while banning everything else so it would be the "best available." No need to buy anyone.

I suspect that PStars is more focused on expanding their player/revenue pool at the moment while also trying to take advantage of the DraftKings/FanDuel scandal (or at least not be tainted by it in the mind of Regulators).
