ARod allegedly made a profit of nearly 40 million dollars from playing poker in this illegal NY poker club (link above) and did not pay any taxes on his earnings. The Feds hate him as a result and urged MLB to give him a life ban.
MLB was basically forced to use Federal surveillance to spy on ARod to collect evidence to incriminate him.
Bottom line...ARod is a talented poker player (maybe better than baseball player) and could make it his new career. He has a large bankroll, a lot of experience at cash games, a ton of free time, and no other good options for careers that will keep him in the mainstream spotlight.
I have listened to simulcast WFAN radio in NY this week and the talk is that if ARod gets permabanned from MLB he will either become a pro poker player or pro wrestler.
