It's an analogy, in much the same way that someone might say "That thread has AIDS". It's an ugly turn of phrase that I'd prefer not to be used, but just about everything ever posted will offend someone.

EDIT: I'm not in management, but I think the the mods do a pretty good job of infracting people for personal attacks and overly nasty comments. Much worse comments than Colman's get through the net.

Well not to be disrespectfull but I would like managment to answer and not a Mod.

I agree Mods do a great job most of the time, but i dont think any mod will do the right thing here (ban) because colman is a high profile to common pokerplayers.

And my answer to the bolded text above is, I really hope your are not serious ?

I would never ever call another human being " a cancer to society" and I really dont understand anyone with a brain and empathy ever could.

Dude, man up. The guy was expressing his opinion. He didn't commit a hate crime ffs. Chill out. You're the one with issues, not him. There's nobody else screaming for his head.

That post made your point - in which you referred to people with a brain - a whole bit less valid.

If you have a problem with the modding then ad hominem attacks aren't your way to go. Since you want advice from 'management', and not from a mod, this thread is most likely also not the place to go. You can e-mail the 'management'. I don't know the e-mailadress from the top of my head, but I'm sure you can find it in About The Forums.

I'm pretty sure there is plenty of people who find the word "******ed" offensive, but you just used that in the same thread without worrying about that.

You're just being a cancer to NVG.

Your point taken actually refreshing to communicate with a solid poster.

That said I absolutely think my question is valid.

As said before I got a lot of respect for almost every mod on 2+2, and obviously they are more than welcome to answer.

Now do I know that coleman don’t get banned ? of course I do, but then again I would like an answer from one of the guys who decides the policy, and to a less intent the ones who police them, as in lawmakers contra police..

Modding decisions have a lot of leeway, are subjective and also contextual. In cases like this a ban almost never happens unless there is a long history of this behavior. Infraction and/or deletion is more common. We also tend to be more protective of active members of the site vs a non-active public figure. Public figures are expected to accept that part of the price of fame is both adoration and harsh criticism.

As a policy I will not openly discuss moderation actions taken on a members account unless that member brings it up.

Thanks for the answer, I still think it`s wrong but then again I respect your decision.

It`s not all bad though, i learned to multiquote after 6 years on this forum

I think the mistake you're making here is that you're imposing your own standards/morals upon others. Your statements above are pretty amazing when you, as has been pointed out, recently used "******ed" in a post - but then, maybe not so amazing when you consider that different people find different things offensive, which is something that seems to have not been a factor in your thought process.

Not instantly banning someone for an insult is pretty standard, and in this instance, the profile of the poster in question has nothing to do with it.

Yes Bobo, when you consider that DNegs was banned it is quite obvious who the poster is has nothing to do with it.

So 75% of my threads get deleted and before they do, my posts are deleted, my thread title is changed etc.The last thread I made it wasn't even very controversial, I think someone else may have said something to get it deleted. Why isn't there a section that isn't ridiculously moderated? The section should only be moderated for things like, disclosing personal information, death threats, etc.

Having a site largely run and monitored by older men is great and all, but I'm sure it's not inviting to the next generation of players who don't have the same maturity level

I've never had a thread deleted, a title changed or any of my posts deleted. Maybe it's time to look in the mirror instead of pointing fingers at others?

lmao literally every post I make, regardless of content, somebody makes some nauseating drive by comment that has nothing to do with the topic. This is why poker is dying lol.

This is exactly the point of a "no rules forum," I don't know why my thread got moved into here, because I am not asking for the rules of this subform to be changed, but rather a whole new subform be created called "miscellaneous" I use the bodybuilding forums frequently and the advent of this subforum not only dramatically increased the number of people exposed to bodybuilding, but it has also acted as a catch all for trolls and other types of people to share their non serious opinion.

The reason why this form has so much trouble and a need for so many mods is because every subforum has ridiculous posting guidelines that makes almost anything you say a violation besides, "he plays good," "I like him" and even that could be deleted because it's considered "unintresting"

The trolls will go to the misc forum and you won't have to deal with them on the serious ones. Going back to the BB forums, the serious sections have very few trolls and I believe this is a result of the misc.

thanks for reading

So it was a prop bet between a group of guys and some unknown party. The unknown party knew all the correct information and the group was penalized when they released inaccurate information. My question is... who was it the group was prop betting against that both knew all the correct information, and stood something to gain from it coming out?

I'm not smart enough to figure this out, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone out there who is.

So you're asking for a forum where people can post whatever they want and then complaining about the content of my post? Ok...

In any event, the proper place to make your request would be here. It does actually sound like an interesting idea, to be honest. Good luck.

As with so many people, I don't think "literally" means what you think it means.

This is why language is dying lol.

I'm not sure what responses to your posts have to do with poker dying, but now that we know the link, we better fix the problem. Easiest solution would probably be just to ban you.

The fact that it puzzles you points to the biggest part of the problem here - you seem to think that a post belongs wherever you want to put it. I couldn't decide whether to merge it here, since most of your post was complaining about moderation, or to move your thread to About The Forums. ATF is where we discuss issues around the forums, and suggestions for new forums is a frequent topic. In that forum, moderators of other forums and administrators are much more likely to see your suggestion, as are other posters that may be interested in your idea. Your post really had nothing to do with Poker News, Views, and Gossip.

Well, I'm glad that after a couple months and a few dozen posts here, you've been able to determine what's wrong with the world's largest (by far) English speaking poker forum and how to immediately fix it.

Nothing wrong with suggestions, and pretty much any site has room for improvements, as this one does. But I think you look a little silly when you make pronouncements about ridiculous posting guidelines and make the issue all about the rules and refuse to take any responsibility for your own posting. Have you ever considered, when joining a huge well-established community, that you may need to make an effort to adapt as well?

Nope, literally was used correctly here - your reply makes it 15/15 combative replies. It's satirical actually, like this is how they'd run a joke show, you know where the point of the show is the main character always loses in a ridiculous way. Oh how ironic it would be if you banned me for this.

so you mentioned this being the "biggest most established poker forum" right? And you also implied that poker isn't dying?

Currently Active Users: 2885 (1577 members and 1308 guests) @7:10 pm EST

I rest my case

moving on, my thread has nothing to do with your moderation, but rather it has to with the fact that EVERY subforum is HEAVILY monitored. I really wonder how many threads are deleted a day. (not that there's that much traffic, but I'm sure it's alot) Having a forum for trolls to go and post would be a perfect solution and attract more people to the site. I don't understand why you can't see this. Why don't you try it and see?

Hello.

I made a thread where I asked for cliffs about the Pokerstars situation. Some troll came into my thread and the whole thread is deleted in stead of just deleting the post of this person.

Can I make the same thread again now?

Thanks

No, it wasn't. What you actually said was that every post you make "somebody makes some nauseating drive by comment that has nothing to do with the topic". Which of course, isn't true.

Actually, I implied no such thing. I was simply pointing out how silly your particular assertion was about why it was dying.

Actually, they're not. To give you just one example, here's one of our busiest forums:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...ls-challenges/

Number of threads deleted in the first 10 pages of the forum (250 threads): One, which was spam for some anti-aging product.

But I guess there's no reason to let facts get in the way of things here, so if it makes you happy to believe that your posting is awesome and the problem is all about how terribly the forums are moderated, carry on I guess.

No, not much traffic here at all. Only millions of page views every month.

I actually haven't made any judgement on the idea either way; I've just been correcting your errors and letting you know where you should post about your idea. I think you'll actually find something similar has been suggested there before, so maybe you can give the idea the momentum it needs. Or you can just continue arguing about things here instead.

We have dozens of threads about the situation. I'd suggest either reading those, or posting in one of them asking for your cliffs.

This has never, ever been the forum for that, although threads of that nature have been allowed at times. We have a Marketplace forum which includes a negative feedback thread. We also have an entire Marketplace subforum planned for this sort of thing, which I have to admit has been stalled for quite some time (mostly my fault) - I'll make a push to get that open before the end of the month.
