Will the publishing company be sharing the URL for its online presence with the forum or will it eventually move to a different URL? (Or will the forum eventually transition to a new name?)

I have to disagree as I was pretty disagreeable towards him and it took some time before I got banned. And I think it was Mason himself who banned me although the notice wasn't signed.

Will the magazine continue?

The first thing they did was get rid of the magazine. Improving the magazine would have been a better option, but I can understand getting rid of it.

So the website was designed to promote the publishing company and probably became worth more the the publishing company, which is probably partly why it was sold.

Based on an early conversation with the new owners and what they posted in the other thread, I believe that we'll be able to talk about our books right here.

Other than that, there's no need, as far as I can see, for us to have a website. Amazon has taken over everything and has changed a lot relative to the way our publishing business is run.

I don't remember banning you and it's actually rare that I banned anyone.

Many years ago, all the moderation was turned over to Mat Sklansky. Years ago I worked in statistical quality control for the US Census Bureau, and the first thing you learn is that the QC function needs to be independent of the production function. So my focus has always been on production.

Of course, as site owner, I did have the authority to ban people but it was very rare. Also, my focus when it did come to banning was insults.

I've seen him attacked numerous times and not ban the attacker. And he has indicated that he rarely banned anyone. But, of course I haven't read anywhere near all the threads on 2+2. I don't know, but I suspect, that he gave mods a lot of latitude to decide the tolerance of abusive posts in their respective forums. Do doubt, some who were banned by mods assumed it was Mason.

MM ghosted a poster one time for pointing out that he had retweeted a post mentioning Sheldon Adelson. Mason thought the poster made a photoshop or something because MM got confused between retweeting and replying/tweeting.

But you are right he doesn't usually ban people who criticize him like hopefully he won't ban me now.

Perhaps this isnt the best forum for this question but does 2+2 have any additional books being published in the future? I just reread a 2+2 book i have had in my possession for almost 2 decades. "How to make $100,000 a year gambling for a living"

Even though the book is older, it gives a good synopsis on how to find edges in beatable games. Nothing really ground breaking in the book, given the fact that it was written well before YouTube, ubiquitous internet, etc but as always, i love how 2+2 organizes thier information and lays it out clearly for the reader to understand.

Congrats on the sale and a big thank you for all that you've done. Like many on this thread, I echo the sentiment that this website has been very influential to me through the years. I hope that the new owners do not change much, but seems they're off to a good start getting rid of banner ads.

Thanks for the memories. I only started when HUDs, training sites, etc were already a thing, but without a doubt I learned more about poker from 2p2 than from any other instance. And now, many years into retirement, I still read forums like OOT and OOTV nearly every day and I've learned so many things from those forums over the years. Those, to me, are the real gems of 2p2 and not the poker threads. These forums have lured a crazy amount of extremely sharp people over the years who came for the poker but stayed for all the quality posting across various topics. I hope that all the side forums will stay, even if the new owners are looking to mostly monetize the poker part.

Anyway, congrats on the sale and good luck in your future endeavours, Mason & co! This forum has changed many lives over the years, and without a doubt most of them for the better. Sounds cheesy as hell but I genuinely wonder where I'd be if 2p2 never existed; so many key things about my life are in some fashion connected to things that started at these forums.
