Phil Hellmuth with his t-shirt with commercials on it (msi?). And I bet his non-stop table talk with self-promotion. I have no hope this will be a good watch, just Phil Hellmuth giving headaches to people (like the big cash game with JBR and Rob Yong last year).

Good news in the pretty grey lineup is Bryn Kenney. Very exciting to see him on. But still i miss lots of names, especially from the newer generation.

Hard to tell how the atmosphere will actually be from that clip but I agree completely that HSP is all about the atmosphere. Definitely should have bricks of cash on the table.

Also, I hope it will have some gamblers that will spice the show up. Gambling by the likes of Farha, Elezra, Dwan, Brad Booth and even Jamie Gold was super fun in the original show. They need some billionaires with personality and gamble...people like Randall Emmett or Jennifer Tilly, just with more money. Bill Klein types aren't really necessary. I could care less if I've heard of the rich guys as long as they bring in players that are truly fun. The only thing worse than watching robotic poker pros is watching robotic billionaires.

JRB is probably one of the most important players to have on the show with his personality, his gamble, and his willingness to put it all on the line. Dwan and Ivey returning is a must.

Hellmuth should be on there because he's Hellmuth but hopefully he's not a major focus of the show. Don't get me wrong, Hellmuth is gold but he's just not a fit for High Stakes Poker (there are tons of other poker programs that can spotlight his antics).

What I found "interesting" is that so many people @Gabe Kaplan when mentioning commentary for the show and I don't think I ever saw PokerGo, HSP or the man himself say that he's not doing it.

So fingers crossed that it's happening.

Can we stop pretending that table talk is the most important aspect of televised poker. It doesn't really add much value and makes it worse if anything. It's cringey to watch people try to force chit chat because they think it makes for better tv- it doesn't.

What are you talking about? Farha vs. Elezra table talk, Deeb vs. whole table on going south lol, etc. was very entertaining. Way more entertaining that a bunch of GTO Hoodie's tanking 30 secs every hand preflop while saying nothing whole game. That game is boring as hell.

Forced table talk would be bad, which is why it's important to have some players with personality that know how to hold actual conversations IRL.

Maybe you don't like it or don't care but a lot of people do.

Whenever there's discussion about poker on TV or stream, the most common complaint is about the lack of interesting personalities and table talk.

The new line up is not what I was wanting from a High Stakes Poker return. Back in the day they always used to invite the latest online cash crushers but there’s no sign of Linus, Limitless etc. this time. They need to have a mixture of the older school pros like Ivey, Dwan, Hellmuth etc., a couple of rich billionaires and some new school online kids.

Don't know about the lineup how entertaining it will be. Hard to beat the og gang on that. There were plays that people remember 10 years later. Well some of us atleast.

People think that's what they want but they really don't. They'll watch a livestream and realize how boring it is and attribute their boredom to the lack of table talk. In reality, the livestream format is just bad. If the show is edited table talk is completely unnecessary.

I don't doubt that they will at least try. The issue is due to covid restrictions they are probably not going to get the European/Russian online beasts for a while. That might be contradicted by the appearances of Dwan/Ivey, who are almost always in Asia, so maybe that renders my argument completely baseless.

You're not supposed to like Jamie Gold. He's a heel. The dynamic of him talking about how great he is to some of the world's best cash game pros and then proceeding to lose over $200k on the show was pure gold, imo. Not sure what more you could want, tbh.

Hope they do well with the graphics. They seemed to get better each season in the past, but were there was still room for improvement. Live at the Bike does a good job of showing all necessary info; stacks, pot, street by street actions, etc.
