I recently watched Chamath Palihapitiya on Poker Night in America tell a story about playing 5k/10K with Bobby Baldwin, chinese businessmen, and some pros in Iveys room.

Yeah I thought this was years ago. JRB and some of his regs didn't want Merson in their game even though casino games in LV are supposed to be "open to the public."

Not sure why they wouldn't let him in, I know everyone on this forum rides his nuts but I've played with him quite a bit since he's moved to Jersey (3 handed and 6 max, he wont play unless there's a dunce in the game) and he's no killer.

Funny he calls people out for scum behavior though, he was called out himself for short stacking/ratholing PLO no more than a year ago and as I said before, is a huge bum hunter.

Baffling that with all the live experience Greg has, he hasn't grasped that working your way into the good games is part of the skill set you need. JRB may not be the most technically skilled poker player but he's got that part of the game mastered.

Because he's an entertaining person who is extremely good at providing a fun and friendly experience for wealthy people to play poker. That skill makes him way more money than being a very good poker player would.

He comes across as a friendly bloke that you want to spend time with as he entertains the players around him by engaging in good-natured conversation interspersed with amusing anecdotes.

Or you can just wear your glasses, hoodies, and headphones and whine about why rich guys have not chosen you as someone they want to spend a night playing poker with. If they know deep down that they are going to end up net losers, common sense says they at least want the most entertainment and fun they can get playing poker for that expense (and also feel good about the people to whom they are losing their money).
