I remember Razzo from the RGP days. I wondered why I didn't see him posting on 2+2 as he was quite the personality. RIP Razzo.

I didn't know him but it sounds like he was well-liked and respected by those who did, RIP Darryl Phillips.

Re: Darrel RAZZO Phillips REST IN PEACE

Indeed, Razzo was a fixture in the early days of RGP, and, unless I'm mistaken, pre-split (before rec.gambling was split into subgroups). He was around the early days of BARGE (early '90s) and was indeed one of the pioneers of linking the Internet and poker.

RIP sir.

Regards, Lee

Re: Darrel RAZZO Phillips REST IN PEACE

Razzo was old-school. I remember him well from a zillion RGP conversations, and I'm pleased to say I met him live a few times. I always liked him. RIP, Razzo.

Beyond bizarre and worthy of its own thread. Gary Carson's was the first book I bought on poker, and the reason it is my hobby to this day.

Apparently very ill for months, and died on March 4.

Just decide please. I half feel guilty about the sarcastic eulogy I posted on rgp the first time the rumor appeared (knowing that Gary would read it).

******

for Razzo. I mentioned once on rgp that I was going to Vegas and at the MGM grand he said "oh you are that guy who posted on rgp" within 5 minutes of dealing to me. Now there are no pictures on usenet and he must see 50 tourists a day. I asked him htf he could have known it was me and just laughed. I still don't know.

Awesome dealer, would email and have lunch any time I visited.
