heres a short summary of a long story:

Mathieu Robillard was a micro stake player in bangkok living on the couch of his friend.
He made a post on a french canadian forum asking for help and advice 1 year ago.
Me staying in bangkok and feeling bad for him after reading his story deicded to stake/coach him at nl hu and let him stay in my 2nd bedroom for free.
I told him the deal would initially last 6 months but then was extended to 8.
Mathieu seemed like a really honest guy so didnt think I had to make any written contract and that an oral agreement would have been enough.(what a huge mistake that was)
With my help(me coaching him each time he was playing someone) he was making decent money for the first 2 months, then the contract of my rent ended and I didnt wanted to stay with him anymore but decided to keep staking him and advanced him some funds so he could pay a cheap rent.
After a few months with no results and giving him so many chances, I decided to end the deal. Mathieu was really upset and refused to send me back my rolls (about 5k at that time) saying Im not respecting the deal and I cant quit whenever I want to(even tho we talked about it in person before and he agreed that one day if I end the deal he had to accept it but wtv).He then blocked me from everywhere.

I waited 2 weeks with no updates at all and then decided to make a thread outing him on this forum :

He then replied in my thread saying the same things again: that I cannot quit the deal whenever I want to and that he wasnt doing anyhting wrong and was gonna send me back my rolls when the deal ends( with all the money that he owes + 50% of the money that he will make during that period) (in his mind the deal was on a 10 month period but wtv).NOt many people on the forum picked his side and he then vanished frustrated that people were telling him to send me back my rolls asap.

(this was like 5-6 months ago)

If Im writing this post today ,its because our original agreement has expired for some time already( more than 10 months) and Mathieu Robillard still hasnt refund me any $ even if he promised many time to do so.

Mathieu has been known to go around and ask for staking deal from the poker community so stakers should be aware of this shady character so they dont fall in the same trap.


if one day he change his mind and decide to refund me my money, Ill be glad to update/close the thread.

I decided to end the deal and the person disappeared with my roll and never payed me back.

just to be clear, at first I was only asking for my rolls back even if mathieu was down a lot(rolls were about 5-6k) but in his original post, Mathieu said that he would send back my rolls at the end of the deal + half of the profits he made and the money that he owe me so actually Mathieu owes me more than 10k atm.


He is still regularly bum hunting nl50 on stars and ftp under the nick sweetlover88 with money that isnt his.

Same for me. Mathieu Robillard was living near my condo, but stayed with me a few months, so we could grind together (that was during the time he was stacked by gab). To make his life easier and mine I lend him my keycard and keys, so things would be just more practical. He borrowed me shoes and earphones too.
After he decided to steal Gab, I asked him to bring me back my stuff as I needed it, and replied me that he will bring it back to me, no pbm. Every few days, he said he will bring me back my things, but didn't, he then deleted me from any social network so it was hard to contact him. He told me he will send me my stuff for a few months but didn't, and then didn't even replied to me. I have no idea why he did that, I always tried to help him, I never had pbm with mathieu, and it's not that it's hard to send things through the post.

I agree with Gab, mathieu is extremely delusional, but you can only see that if you know him well.

Just be careful if you meet mathieu ( sweetlover88 ), it's very easy to trust him and trust his story.

He stole a few other of his friends too, borrowing money and mobile phone, but I don't know the exact story about it, so can't really talk much about it.

If Mathieu can read this, and tell me if I wrote anything wrong about the story, i'll be happy to rectified what I wrote, and be happy to get my stuff back too (especially keycard and keys).

Both 'poker players' and 'people living in thailand' are pretty high up on the list of strangers one should not trust. Combining both is just a recipe for disaster. Sorry for your loss OP, hope you get some money back one day.

My Lord. How can I pick sides when everyone involved in these "deals" makes hugely idiotic decisions all the time? F these "scam" threads, go beat each other with sticks to see if it will force some sense into your heads.

Never said I didnt do any mistakes, trusting people too much was a leak of mine. I used to think that if you do good things and help people, in return those people will never do anything bad to you, damn I was wrong.

Other point, the reason of this thread is not for people to pick side, its to warn potential victims of Mathieu s future action like asking for a new staking deal etc..

When I met Mathieu he had already scammed 2 other guys that I wasnt aware of, if those guys would have done what I did(made a thread outing him) I would have never gotten scammed.

best chance of getting your money back is probably hiring a private investigator to dig up some dirt related to his "sweet loving" and threaten to expose him.

Amazing that all these bad seed crooked kids can get a stake but an integrity filled war veteran like me w/ year after year of live Vegas cash game success has struck out the two times I sought backing... the world def isn't fair that's for sure.

Have you noticed that OP and joncouturier have the exact same writing style, same way of shortening certain words to 3 letters and constructing the sentences slightly incorrectly in the same way.
