He said he was under impression the edge was tiny and was mostly gambling. The elaborate rules shouldn't make any difference, you either trust the counterparty or you don't, he trusted him, realised something was a bit off,got it checked, realised what was up and stopped doing it.
Hard to argue he was probs a little wreckless doing it, but that aside hard to see what he's done wrong tbf. I think people here don't know how common this type of gambling is in general.
