The woman who died with four family members would disagree, if she could.

In the poker game of life, COVID-19 is the rake.

My immune system is so bad, I’d probably catch it playing an online event.

Just don't play in an airport or public space with lots of Chinese people, like a Chinese market, or a wuhan corona virus testing centre.

But influenza kills only 0.14% of infected patients, and it has a vaccine. And the COVID-19 fatality rate is far higher for seniors.

You don't want to be hitting that one outer.

Meanwhile, there are now 77,000 cases worldwide, a 77 fold increase since this thread started.

The WSOP needs to have 9 of these at every table:

More importantly, this should be required for everyone to be wearing at all times:

Yeah but then how's Hellmuth going to make those amazing reads?

Conspiracy theory: this thread is actually an evil plot to lower Phil Hellmuth's ROI from his greatest hater.

I've seen some numbers that it's close to 3%.

CES in Las Vegas in the beginning of the year went on without any major issues, and it must had quite a few people from asian tech companies.

But MWC (Mobile conference) in Barcelona was cancelled this late february.

2-3% is insanely high when the risk is dying. Also apparently 20% of cases end up being "serious" meaning you are hospitalized and your life is at risk. So you have a 1/5 chance of being bed ridden fighting for your life. Pretty damn serious

According to information conveyed to WHO by Chinese authorities on 11 and 12 January, 41 cases with novel coronavirus infection have been preliminarily diagnosed in Wuhan City. Of the 41 cases reported, seven are severely ill. This is when the one death, mentioned above, was reported, in a patient with other underlying health conditions.

those masks do basically nothing fwiw.

Luckily, it seems that the coronavirus is starting to become well contained and the growth rate is slowing down substantially. Early on it seemed rational to be worried that this could become a worldwide pandemic. But if this slowdown stays on course then by the summer this virus might become a lot less threatening than we thought.

Here's a graph of the amount of coronavirus/CoVid-19 cases worldwide. The bell curve was spiking rapidly but it's beginning to flatline. Hopefully the spreading continues to decline. Good health to us all.

Tell that to Italy.

Ya looking at the data, it seems that Italy just doubled the number of reported cases since yesterday adding 78 new cases up to 157 total. Hopefully they can keep it under control but there's a chance it could get really bad there.

They're cancelling soccer games there, and they don't take that lightly

you mean football... calcio... only americans play soccer

Compare the chance of being infected to your chance of winning an event. Not booking a cruise right now, and will enjoy the 4th of July away from Vegas.

Plus the fact it could be even higher given the sample size.

But even at 2% it's pretty funny that people think this is like not a high number. And yeah 20% in ICU regardless doesn't seem like it's a great experience either way.

All these people who were treating this like it's some kind of bad cold and keep saying it's not a big deal is just funny.

Time for the WSOP to consider doubling online gold bracelet events. Right now the events are mostly on Sundays. They should add an equal number of events on Wednesdays.

Reminder:

just read this: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...539v1.full.pdf

Add in a ~35% chance of getting pulmonary fibrosis (irreversible)

If the WSOP goes ahead, the hospitals will probably rake more than the WSOP

Panic over.
Apparently, a fried egg is the perfect cure.
