The Macau SAR Government has revealed it will shut down all 41 casinos in Macau for a period of two weeks following confirmation of two new cases of the Coronavirus in local casino industry workers, taking the total number of confirmed cases in Macau to 10.

Triton Poker 2020 got postponed. Now this.

Hopefully, WSOP 2020 does not get closed down too for reasons that could include the CoronaVirus itself, but also the butterfly effects (participant fear and meltdowns, logistics shutdowns, expectation letdowns, scheduling takedowns, health department double downs, etc.) that could snowball from it.

Humans have always been good at iterating and pivoting around obstacles. I have faith that Vegas can do so, so that the things that we all look forward to will go on efficiently and on schedule.

Are you guys intentionally not reading everything that people write? Also you're not able to Google probably, which is sad in 2020.

"In 2016, a total of 29,668 U.S. residents aged ≥65 years died as the result of a fall (age-adjusted rate† = 61.6 per 100,000), compared with 18,334 deaths (47.0) in 2007."

I never wrote that 35k people died of falling from ladders. Read the sentence correct." ladders and ****"

BTW I might be able to give u a hands on experience of that virus. A Co worker of mine was in China for 3 weeks, came back today but paranoid Co workers convinced my boss to give the guy 2 weeks home office. It's actually so beyond ridiculous. Projects are delayed because of this, even though he was literally 1200miles away from Wuhan.

Maybe iam not paranoid enough and he has it even after the 2 weeks. If not there is aways a ladder in my basement

Nice try, but you (retroactively) tried to base your statement in bold below on a stat that you quoted yourself that doesn't even mention ladders. It has almost nothing to do with ladders and more to do with elderly people being susceptible to falls. And when properly googled, unlike what you did, we find out only 300 people die from ladder falls a year (and likely very few of those were people aged 65 or older, so almost none of your stat). Using that stat to make a point about ladders is like saying I'm among the best home run hitters because between the two of us, Hank Aaron and I have a total of 755 home runs.

Moreover, the stat you are now claiming to have referenced isn't 35,000, and we see that the stat that someone found that actually is 35,000 was the one that was almost entirely made up of OSHA citations and only 300 ladder-related fatalities, which means that you are the one that has a problem reading the entirety of a stat and interpreting what it means. So it is actually you that is not able to do either of the things you just accused the rest of posters in this thread of not being able to do -- googling properly (although you said "probably") and reading everything that people write. If you're going to double down a mistake, at least be good at it.

When will the government block ladders to be used. Also the wsop is in Las Vegas. Las Vegas has a lot of big buildings with a lot of falling down potential.

I demand that the wsop takes quick action and moves the wsop events to the desert, where are no high places.

"from an unintentional fall from a ladder or smt like this."

I give u the benefit of the doubt and blame it on my bad English, but where I come from adding "or smt like this" to a sentences adds multiple things to the meaning. When u write : you are a dum b f uck or smt like this, it means you are maybe a dum b fuc l or something else maybe a very smart person.

Have u also ever heard of the term Irony when it comes to the government sentence. Your linguistic analysis skillz are top notch bro

Just so you know, your posting in this thread gives the unmistakable impression that you are either stupid or a troll. In either case, not a good look. (And please do not mention ladders ever again.)

Yes, and adding something else that is almost totally unrelated doesn't make it relevant to the stat on which you are basing it. You totally missed the point of the Hank Aaron comment. I don't expect you to be able to figure it out, so never mind.

Yes, the point of that sentence was obvious, but it was also obvious that you were basing it on something irrelevant.

It would be quite telling to let the good people of this thread grade my linguistic analysis skills vs. yours, but whosnext already said it best, so we'll leave it at that.

20,000 cases now. The momentum seems to be slowing but at the expense of commerce (flights, postponed events, empty malls, ghost town hotels, etc.). Not sustainable. The only cure is the cure. Everything else are just emergency short term actions.

The WSOP should look into a substitute online series that awards real and official gold bracelets.

Had it coming, at last our community will learn the real meaning of the word 'sick'

I can hear it all now:

"Wow, so sick..."
"Too soon, man, too soon."
"...but at least I got to ladder up."
"You really are cold, aren't you? There are 7,500 people in this tourney. Statistically, five of them lost a loved one from a ladder fall."

Three days after the above update, 34k infected now...and counting. Same thing: Neutralization only by means other than an actual cure.

WSOP.com online legit gold bracelet events should be added in masse. Lots of people can play from New Jersey. Lots can play from Nevada...and don't have to be in the same room all at once.

Another suggestion: When the event goes at the Rio, everyone should be required to wear hygiene masks. In fact, Rio should sell these masks for a buck or two a piece and have them be required for everyone (dealers, players, cocktail waitresses, floor people, railbirds, etc.). No mask, no entry.

The earlier they announce these proposed changes, the better.

A shadow online version(with 20 or more gold bracelets awarded) of WSOP Las Vegas is in order. This could really result in a big boost to online poker in the US.

Instead of a coronavirus containment thread can we make this a Registered 2018 containment thread? Contain all his new threads in this one heap? I vote yes.

People dont go to vegas to sit in their hotel room and play online poker. Nor will they travel if they feel they are putting themselves at risk. Do you really think people will want to play poker if its treated like a quarantined zone complete with a face masks? If the virus is not under relative control by the summer then wsop will just cancel the series and resume again next year.

I'll leave it to Einstein to answer that.
