Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

You make it sound like he was running around "naked city" with a $100,000 Rolex on his wrist, burning hunskies in front of drug dealers while posting on instagram.

So live like a monk; or get your sh** taken! Nice attitude. What do you define as "flaunt?" No doubt it's whatever level you are jealous of.

I'm curious about this: what length of skirt is acceptable to wear? When does the length becume so short that a woman deservers to be raped? Is there a cleavage amount that's allowed in your world? When is it "too much" and you "deserve" to be attacked?

The idea that you can't be safe in your home; is absurd. The idea that people can take what is yours because some idiot on 2+2 NVG doesn't like your lifestyle, is truly pathetic.

This is what happens when you side with criminals against non-criminals.

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

Bringing up women and skirt lengths is quite the leap. Like with both, know your environment and take the extra precautions if you want a little more security.

It's ridiculous to think people are siding with criminals. Nobody likes crime besides criminals. We're all just legitimate people trying to make it and would prefer not to be robbed.

Still think Chad is a total knob for the level of precautions he took.

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

The real leap here is to insinuate that anyone felt Chad Power deserved to be robbed. A woman that wears a short skirt does not deserve to be harassed or raped but that doesn't change the fact that there are instances where it is not wise for her to wear a short skirt.

It's the reality. Your home is only as safe as you make it.

A casino heist caper featuring main characters named Chad Power and Brock Brewer? That’s just lazy writing.

The Private Vault in Las Vegas wasn't the only vault that was burglarized. There was a vault in Fort Lauderdale that was hit around 25 years ago. There was also a Private Vault in Beverly Hills, in that case the feds this year seized every box. To reclaim the property you have to prove that everything in the box was yours. Try to doing that when it comes to cash, gold, rare coins and jewelry. You might have a chance with the jewelry if you can show a receipt where you purchased the rings or bracelets.

Nope I did not read your post cuz u seem mad bro

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

The stories say this Brewer is a member of Crips and that he recently bought a new Dodge Charger and a used Maserati, for about $60K each in cash, and it is presumed he used the poker money for that. He was also convicted in 2006 of following a poker player home and stealing $15K in cash and chips.

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

Not just a regular Dodge Charger, a Hellcat. The story I read says he got it with a $30k down payment. The car should be at least $70k. Since it was easy money, maybe he got the Hellcat Redeye which is 797 horsepower. Doesn't get much better than that. He registered the vehicles to his mom. That's a good son, but I question whether momma wants to drive a 700+ horsepower street beast.

The police also confiscated a 3rd vehicle, although there were no details on that vehicle.

BTW, SMH at the photos Daily Mail decided to use of Chad in the article below.

Absolute garbage argument.

Flaunt your stuff, increase the risk that it does get taken.
You do not 'deserve' it, but you greatly increase the chance it actually happens through a process you controlled and decisions you made.

I don't know what the **** parenting failure must happen that causes half the population to live in this absurd, idealistic counter-reality where real world solutions and decisions are abandoned for a belief in the way things ought to be- these people have very predictible politics, too- but at the end of the day, its why I still teach my kids "look both ways and be careful of traffic, even if you're using the crosswalk because winning the lawsuit doesn't undo the much worse outcome if someone runs you over"

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

I got a safe installed in my house (im sure not adequate safe), then realised it was like conveniently gathering up all my cash and valuables into one place for any would be thieves. So i changed strat for cash in the house to leave a notional amount in the safe (decoy) and then split the rest into small amounts and scatter it around in various hiding spots...

First time I went away for 6 weeks I used about 7/8 little hiding spots and it took nearly 3 months to find it all - still not 100% I have found it all - then last time I went away I split it into 5/6 hiding spots left myself a little "coded" treasure map to find it all when I got back and took 4 weeks to figure out wtf the map meant and locate it. Cant imagine a thief finding it in a reasonable amount of time, but also a bit worried if i'm tied up being tortured and genuinely don't know where it is

It's not a terrible system...but defo needs a little refining.

When you get money, never buy nice things, post about nice places, your lucrative job, or do anything that would say "I have money" or you're inviting yourself to get robbed people! SHEESH!

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

The Daily Mail is a London tabloid. Their article included several pictures of Chad Powers, all making him look weird, whereas they could have chosen pictures that look totally normal. They also seemed to have picked the most extreme pictures of Brewer. It is probably "look at those crazy Americans".

Not to blame the victim, book looking at it like a poker hand, it does not seem well played to have $1 million in a safe in your house that can be carried out.

It is also interesting the Brewer is a member of a street gang and has a prior conviction for following home a poker player and robbing him. It is something to be aware of that there may be people looking to do this.

I don't play high stakes live cash games, and understand there may be difficulties with needing to handle large sums. I got a little concerned carrying a few thousand or driving home with more from a tournament cash.

Re: Burglar who robbed Chad Power of $1 million sent to jail

With the Daily Mail, in Britain you wouldn't sit in a throne unless you were really king. They also are not so much into showing off money, as it just shows how low class you are. The story makes the readers feel better that even though they are poor they know their place and do not act like jerks like this American poker player and gang member / burglar.

The world always wants to have it both ways. The same "real world" people that blame the victim for flaunting wealth here will call you a racist if you avoid a black person that makes you feel uneasy late at night.
