Rumor at the big money poker rooms here in Vegas is the JR Bellande has made the following prop bet: Bench Press, 10 reps of 365, by next July 4th. He apparently laid 8-1.

Good luck JR!

win-win for him.

if he wins, he wins.
if he loses, he can't afford to pay.

ridiculous bet, do not think he has the human capabilities to pull it off.
nfl players who lift everyday cant do it, and they are humongous human beings and sick athletes who dedicate their lives to being strong.

I remember on the Survivor program, JR looked very masculine, very strong.

Also, this could be good publicity for the reality show he is pitching.

Depends what he's starting at. If he's anywhere under 225x10 already there is no chance in hell. 365 is huge -- 3 plates + 25 on each side and 10 is a hypertrophy rep. Anyone doing 365x10 can easily push 400 for their strength range. I'd bet my last penny against him.

Can he juice?

JR is a pile of lard IRL. His 10 rep max might be 175. And even that might be a stretch. I've been lifting a long time and the idea of anyone adding close to 200 lbs to their bench (not to mention 10 rep max) in 8 months is laughable.
IF he juiced and trained his arse off, I might find something like 250 x 10 within the realm of reality.

EDIT: the more i think about it, the more obvious this bet is nothing more than a publicity stunt (you're welcome for bumping it again); 365 x 10 is impossible. Doubt there's a player in any of the 4 major sports that could do it. I'd bet against him even if it was a single rep at 365.

p.s. obviously using a bench press shirt would not be allowed.

It depends how much he weighs, JR is 6'6 and not a thin 6'6 so he could easily weigh 260+, so it would be less then 1.5 times his body weight, so it should be doable with training.

Gotta be able to juice and use HGH right?

First, the dude who said the bench press shirt is "obviously" not allowed, uh I didn't see it listed in the OP so I guess it's not the obvious. My guess is he plans on using this.

Second, he's a tall guy with some long arms which makes this so much harder because those muscles are so much longer then someone who has short little stub arms.

I don't see him winning this bet even with the shirt.

You're out of your mind. So is anyone who thinks this is possible.

being tall hurts him for this, it doesn't help. If he has serious money on this and doesn't juice or get on the HGH train he is crazy.

no chance in hell he can in 1 year. has more to do with his height than anything else

Depending on his current max, it's definitely possible if max is @ 250, 260. Otherwise, its very difficult.

lol @ 365x10 in less than a full year.

He is probably around 185x10 if he is working out a lot, maybe 200 or so. But to get to 365x10 is lol. He couldn't even get to 365x5, much less 10 times.

You're saying if he could max 250 (Which I don't think he could, but for the sake of argument...) that he could hit 365 TEN TIMES, in 9 months?

this is hard to guess without knowing what he can lift now, whether he'll use steroids and whether he can use a bench shirt. true odds are probably closer to 80-1, if that.

thinking more about it, i think 80-1 could be generous, by a lot.

Its possible given the right workout and supplement program. I put on 40 lbs on my bench in 1 month

Someone must have misheard some numbers. 265x10 would be really good for a tall guy who works out religiously.

I used to lift 5x per week (diff muscle groupings twice weekly + 1 day legs) and at 6'3, 215lbs best I ever put up was 225x9 and that was in about year 3 of straight working out between ages 17-20. Although I more lifted for endurance/tone than power/size I don't think I ever could have reached 365x10 even if I juiced unless I'm really underestimating the benefits.

Now I'm just a lazy 34 year old pos and doubt I could ever get back to that.

Doing the conversion means he would need to do a 1-rep-max of around 485lbs.

Edit: From built2lasts article that would have him benching more than Brock Lesnar ever has.

Yeah but it is different to go from say 175 to 225 than it is to go from 300 to 350. It takes more work once you start really getting up there.

Improving 50lb when you're at 225 isn't nearly as hard as it is when you are already in the 300 zone.

I can bench press 275 10x and I wouldn't take 8-1 on being able to do 365 10x in 9 months.
