Ashman- run 70 miles, 24 hours prop bet

According to www.twitter.com/BoostedJ there was a spur of the moment bet involving Ashman (Ashton Griffin) where "almost $1M" was bet against him being able to run 70 miles in 24 hours. He apparently just won it with 45 minutes left to spare.

Sicko.

Here is the blog post about it. Just linking here for convenience.

1. Don't grunch. Read more than 15 words of the thread before commenting please.
2. If you comment about a stupid 20 minute mile walking pace you will be infracted. If you don't understand why then go back to #1 please.
3. New addition: Please don't quote posts from February with some counter-argument. It's annoying...and also silly to argue about something that was sai several months ago. Plus, your point was probably made by 10 other people already.

Boosted said he bet on Ashton to win, so it sounds like about $1M was laid against it happening, not sure what the line was

Re: Ashman- run 70 miles, 24 hours prop bet

Was it Boosted that bet $1mil and Ashton bet some more or is $1mil the total action? Would be interesting to see how much in $$ incentive Ashton needed to take on this challenge. More details would be good though. like what he ate, how much rest he got, if he trained for it or it was go after the bet was discussed etc

Anyway, Ashton is a ****ing sicko!

Would like more details on the run itself...like where'd he go, how'd they track him. Sounds pretty sick in any case.

Re: Ashman- run 70 miles, 24 hours prop bet

to emphasize how much heart ashman has, this is a text i got when he was 30 miles in...

Quote:
He's at 30, he just went to "sleep" in his bed room, honestly i doubt he's sleeping. He had to hobble upstairs. I think he's a huge dawg, he stopped eating/drinking for the past 5/6 miles. When I saw him in his room he was rocking back and forth honestly I feel kinda bad for him...he is still sure he is going to win tho

Re: Ashman- run 70 miles, 24 hours prop bet

Info I have ~ 3rd hand.

Ashton was out drinking last night. Got super drunk and only 5 hours of sleep. Bet started next morning. He ran to the gym (this running did not count towards the bet) instead of taking a car. Bet was on a treadmill. Somewhere in Orlando.

Any walking did not count. Had 24 hours to run 70 miles.

He laid 900k to 300k vs DogIsHead (his roommate).

From what I hear, Ashton is super in shape for college wrestling.

A year or two ago at the WSOP, they were at Naked Fish (sushi place). After eating Ashton was bet he couldn't run home (~15) miles in under 3 hours. There was apparently a very large amount of frozen yogurt involved too. He successfully beat the 3 hour time limit, albeit with a lot of puking. (Obv he was not prepared / dressed / whatever for this impromptu bet)

I would never, ever, bet against any college level wrestler in a prop like this.
