6.67%-9% rake, and with no rakeback. The all in timer to eliminate edges between players. Top heavy prizepool - a 10000x is 1/100,000.

Compare that to 5-7% on Stars, with 20-30% rakeback, and the big multiplier being 1 in a million so it doesn't impact your EV too much.

Needless to say unless these things are loaded with players who literally don't know the rules of poker, you'll be better off on Stars.

I wish Stars or 888 would bring in Sit and Gos with a structure like the Cage.

That's such a cool Tourney

Won't be touching Blast poker. 888 tourneys do have the best structures now though

This sounds super lottery ticketish.

"6.67%-9% rake, and with no rakeback."

Are there no rakebased rewards or 888? (I'm honestly ignorant here).

huge looool @ 888. why would anyone want to play there anyway is a myth to me. rake is high, software is bad: last time i played there i couldnt see the raise/fold/check button because it had the same colour as the table theme and i couldnt change it. also its almost impossible to multi table and there are a lot of disconnects. but still it seems they have a lot of players.

Edit: here's the exact structure of BLAST SnGs (as seen at http://ca.888poker.com/official-blast/; for those who can't view 888's site easily): http://imgur.com/a/HeR2E

That's yet another poker site sending a message (in case it wasn't clear enough before that), 'We don't care anymore about keeping a significant percentage of consistent winners at poker'.

Last time I played there they were charging me some jackpot side bet from my stack even when I was sat out. Also they shorted me $200 on a cashout once almost a decade ago and flatly denied it afterwards. Pretty much the only twice I have played there.

Didn't 888 win some best software award lol.

Best "80s style" software is the only category I see it in...

I've never liked it.

A sad thing is that, if Amaya and 888 remain the only two poker operators available in Russia after a licensing law is passed (though I hope partypoker joins the party too)... I'll likely start playing at two $5 Blast tables (assuming that it's the maximum allowed table count like in Snap, or isn't it?), adding a couple of Stars Spin tables to avoid boredom.

what an absolute joke, so after 3 levels (6 minutes) in a 2x/5x you're automatically all in, rake will be unbeatable, even rec players wont play this crap.

The main issue imo is not the auto-all-in (it would be a handy feature for $/hour profit increase as I'd have to click fewer buttons per tourney in the Nash push/fold phase) but that the blinds grow so bloody fast. I'd be OK with 25/50 - 35/70 - 50/100 - all in, but 25/50 - 50/100 - 100/200 leaves way too little room for chip profit beyond the first level.

1500 starting stacks make no sense with such a short amount of playing time.
They need to reduce the stacks or get rid of that horrible clock...

It's just a cosmetic improvement designed to make blind sizes 'rounder'. They might as well have made the blinds 10/20-20/40-40/80 with starting stacks of 600. 25-30 big blinds is a classical starting stack for a lottery SnG. Making it any bigger wouldn't help much because the levels are 2-minute. As it is (note also the antes of 0.1 bb), it encourages looser play so that the target audience (fish) doesn't get too bored.

For those who like 'real' (deepstack) poker, there are still MTTs available. But 15-30 bb poker is still complex enough, taking into account that each chip is worth a bigger fraction of the buy-in and thus microscopic differences in EVs become more important than in deepstack tourneys and are scrutinised with advanced calculators.

Those criticizing the blind structure are missing the point: it is designed for those that like to gamble through the use of "poker" and not those that play poker for poker's sake.

Sad to say, but I can see it as being successful (though a normal 2 to 1 payout from a 4 person game is terrible and will result in a lot of cleaned-up bankrolls in short order)

why people see only the negatives nowadays?
IMO blast structure is way better than spin n go structure
and LOL at those saying that timer is not a good thing...
we need more lottery-type poker to sustain a healthy ecosystem....

well time gives a new strategic element

if I was a bad player, I would try to outlast those minutes so that the enemies edge disappears. Easy blind stealing imo.

Not with these rake structures. The sites aren't halting the decline of the economy, they just make sure the money leaks right back into the company instead of having large edge games where withdrawing regs are the ones draining the $$$.

It's just greed, nothing else.

The timer obviously helps rec players who get the benefit of remaining players going all-in involuntarily and knowing for certain how long a game lasts.

My big problem with it is that the standard payout for huge majority of games is 2 to 1 in a game with 4 players. Rake is too high also, but that seems to be 888's governing principle.
