If that is cute way to say 'who cares about the dramatic increase' it fails.

There will always be top performers, the question is why the top performers keep getting a dramatically increasing share?

If the top 1% of golfers get 25% of all prize money today and have so since golf's inception, fine. If they now get 75% of all prize money that suggests someone is tipping the available pool of funds towards them deliberately.

The comparison would be more apt if those golfers could legally use their golf winnings to pay off officials making the rules and sponsor the organizations who all but decided referee qualifications and made referee appointment recommendations.

I suspect it would become increasingly hard to break into the top ranks over time, and the increasing difficulty would have little to do with skill.

Money is a crappy decider for political power in a democracy, because it is not evenly distributed.

This is why the Oligarch model ultimately fails for a Nation which mirrors almost everything I have been saying.

A nice little poker parallel within the video too.

The Real Reason the Economy Might Collapse

Cliffs

- US middle class consumers and not Oligarchs alone prop up the spending the economy relies upon.
- If Income does not rise with productivity consumer spending amongst the MC shrinks
- as productivity has soared the wage growth for the MC has stagnated
- this means increasingly the MC have less and discretionary income for spending and the Oligarchs are not making up the spending deficit
- Gov'ts and Banks try to fill this gap by offering cheaper and cheaper debt so MC consumer will continue to buy anyway but that threatens to create a collapse if wages continue to decline as compared to Productivity.
- Widening inequality means shrinking Demand to buy up the ever increasing amount of goods being produced via the improved productivity

If one cannot see the problem of an ever shrinking demand base happening at the same time you have ever more goods due to improved productivity, I don't think one is interested in seeing it. As it should be clear that model is not sustainable.

Good news for the HENRY's as the gov't has their eye firmly on measures to help catapult them in to the ranks of the rich!

- The latest data from the Federal Reserve shows that the top 1% has more wealth than the middle 60% of the income distribution.

...the middle 60% of American households by income now cumulatively hold less in assets than the top 1%. It's the latest data point in a trend of increasing wealth concentration for the top and stagnation for everyone else.

That's the first time the total wealth of the top 1% has been higher than the middle 60% since the
Federal Reserve
began tracking this data in 1989

You know john, 25% do not equal 60%.

the number 60 comes after the number 25, not before.

the number 60 is far higher than 25, not below.
the number 60 is far from being the same than 25.

even tho you never seem to understand this, economics is not a linear value science.

As debts increases, it becomes more problematic as it increases.
As inflation increases, it becomes more problematic as it increases.
As taxes increases, it becomes more problematic as it increase.

it is called diminishing return law.
it is all over the place in economics...

So as wealth inequality increases, problems get bigger and bigger finishing in collapsing entire civilization.

Btw john, did you ever ask yourself WHY the gold standard always been a common factor of success for a currency in almost all civilization ?
The goal of it ? why it worked so well ?
If you have the answer you will realize how it is connected with wealth gap disaster in economics...

In this segment Russell Brand is the latest to tear back the veil on the Dem party elite and the party as a whole as a party that does not care about average voters concerns and is just a vehicle for the rich and corporation. He ends with the recognition that the only thing they can run on and demand is blind alliance and the lesser of two evil as they demand fealty but he also puts out the warning that they should not expect blind alliance.

It points out how Dem support plummets now as the Dems fail to deliver once again. I know most Dem supporters here (save a rare few) believe the lesser of two evils gambit is what should drive voters. That there are 'WORSE' Republicans and that if you do not get out and vote in numbers then you deserve what you get. And with Trump threatening to run again that might be indeed all the Dem's need and are betting they will need, thus they are gambling they can pull back on most of the election promises.

I hope most of you who support the lesser of two evils arguments give this a watch and comment as it is a much better said version of my beliefs.

Someone on twitter has grabbed all the slides from video which give you the gist without the editorial comments of the video if you prefer that. Since they are numerous I have put them in the spoilers.

Pay special attention to my comments before the 3rd slide and ask yourself why Manchin or the Dems in general seem to miss so many opportunities to 'Means Test' businesses or the Super Rich, before giving them heaps of cash. Funny that.

Spoiler:

WTF does "reduce the impact" mean here?

They mean AMPLIFY THE IMPACT, right? The impact of covid was that their business got turbo charged and this free gov't cash that was not MEANS TESTED for business to ensure covid winners were not getting it, just poured bitcoin on top of their gold!

‘This has been happening for a long time’: Modern-day slavery uncovered in South Georgia

A yearslong human trafficking operation trapped migrant workers in “modern-day slavery” on South Georgia farms, according to a federal indictment unsealed last week.

Victims include over one hundred laborers smuggled from Mexico and Central America into “brutal” and “inhumane” working conditions. Under the threat of gun violence, some were allegedly forced to dig for onions with their bare hands, earning only 20 cents for each bucket harvested. At least two people died on the job. Another was allegedly repeatedly raped.

When not out in the fields, workers were detained in work camps surrounded by electric fencing, or held in cramped living quarters, including dirty trailers with raw sewage leaks. There was little to no access to food or safe drinking water.

Twenty-four accused members and associates of the criminal enterprise that perpetuated the exploitation now face a slew of felony charges, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia. The multi-agency cooperation that yielded the indictment – dubbed “Operation Blooming Onion” – may be one of the largest-ever human trafficking and visa fraud investigations in the country, VICE News reported...

According to the indictment, laborers were charged unlawful fees for transportation, food and housing. And though they were putatively hired for agricultural work, some migrants were illegally used for lawn care, construction, and repair tasks. To prevent escapes, members of the accused crime ring unlawfully confiscated workers’ passports and documents. Conspirators also sold and traded workers amongst themselves,...

The crimes chronicled in the indictment were alleged to have occurred in the South Georgia counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Coffee, Tattnall, Toombs and Ware, where local farmers paid the defendants to provide contract laborers.

The crime ring that orchestrated the human trafficking operation reaped over $200 million from the illegal scheme. ...

“This has been happening for a long time in Georgia. … And these people that were arrested are not the only ones doing these things,” she said. “I hope (law enforcement) keeps busting these operations because that’s not the only one going on in Georgia.”

Because it’s happening in rural areas, nobody sees the victims,...
