You hate ID yet believe that the elections are rife with fraud.

Personally I don't hate IDs nor do I think the elections are rife with fraud. But I don't think there are really any Americans who both hate the idea of requiring ID for voting and believe the elections are rife with fraud; those are two separate groups.

I don't understand why they want my national ID number (what they call a cédula) to buy groceries in Colombia.

I think from googling it might be a covid thing where you're only supposed to buy groceries on days that correspond to however your national ID ends, weird.

Weird; do they let you make a purchase when they find out you're a tourist?

Yeah every time. But they don't ask every time either. Today the question was if I had my national ID "yet", implying that she knew I was a tourist but wondering if I'd gotten my ID by now..

Although the word for "yet" in Spanish is also used in weird ways so it's possible I'm misinterpreting.

This isn't just done in Colombia. Odds are you can just say you don't have one, and that's that. Will need it for some things though past the purchasing stage.

I personally like how you're able to mention you're in Colombia every other post

If every other post means once every 3 weeks then thank you, I'll keep trying.

But yeah the uses of the national ID here I find interesting. Like you need one for bus travel but not if it's just a short bus ride to some neighboring town.

1. I don't hate ID.

2. I don't believe that the elections are "rife with fraud."

3. Quite a feat on your part to get two things wrong in a mere twelve-word sentence.

4. Numbering a short list of terse sentences is as pretentious as it is unnecessary.

Are you suggesting 0 people have voted illegal in the US over the last 10 years or 0 people have broke into a house to steal stuff? Both seem stupid. I’m just curious which you think is true.

What I find absurd is the notion that forcing people to register before voting is somehow less burdensome than forcing them to identify themselves when they do vote.

I don’t think many repubs claim that voter fraud is widespread. I think both dems & repubs can admit that voter fraud and instances where someone isn’t able to vote because they aren’t able to get an ID are both rare.

I guess it depends of how you define "many," but the entire Stop the Steal effort was premised on the ridiculous assertion that fraud was widespread.

Trump lost the popular vote by double from 2016, up to 7millions…..
If he lost the election it would mean a **** load of fraud .
Yeah I know it’s work differently than popular vote but it ain’t couple thousands that would change that if he really won …..

lol, Republicans absolutely will not agree that this is rare, you know this perfectly well. We wouldn’t be talking about this if the GOP wasn’t incessantly whining about voter fraud.

There's an easy fix to stop them whining about voter fraud. Can you guess what it is?

Yes. Stop letting black people register. After the voting rights act conservatives started pushing against fake voter fraud. Voter ID won't work because Georgia has strict ID laws in place and the Capitol was invaded by a bunch of Trump level "high IQ" types whining about Fulton County.

Funny how other countries with diverse racial mixes seem to be able to make voter ID work but the US can't. Maybe certain political parties don't want it to work. I wonder why

If there were a real problem to solve, I'm sure we could find a way to make the IDs work. So far, no investigation or court has been able to show any real fraud outside of a handful of isolated, inconsequential incidents.

Democratic Strategists seemed united on the belief that POC are less likely that White voters to have enough intelligence and/or fortitude to figure out how to obtain an ID card.

I personally don't agree with those Strategists, but then again they should understand the intelligence (or lack thereof) of their voting base better than me.

No, Democratic strategists do not believe that this has to do with intelligence or fortitude.

Is it also funny how other countries with diverse racial mixes seem to be able to make no national ID or voter ID work?

And the bigger question is - what problem are you trying to solve?

You don't think January 6 was a problem?

If it stops all the whining and things like Jan 6 and everybody's happy wouldn't it be worth it? Imagine having a country where everyone trusts the election process.

But oh no, we can't do that. Too hard.
