I said they shouldnt have fought a war against russia because they knew they were going to lose and the cost is hundreds of thousands of lives lost. Some people will say that cost is worthwhile, some will not

Well, my friend Tony did. He was in quite a high command post at the time, but he found himself in NATO HQ in Kabul during a notorious 24-hour rocket-grenade siege by the Taliban. I said 'What did you do?' and he said 'Well, if we wanted to hold a meeting we just went round to the other side of the building, and if they came round there we got under the desks.' He also has a number of combat distinctions going back through various Middle East wars to the Falklands War, and has captained large warships.
