Its like: innocent black guy is just jogging, minding his own...and Bam...he gets killed for no reason at all.

Anyway, thats how i interpreted it when i watched it...

I follow it a little bit on 2p2...but it occurs hes been charged at some point for having a gun and what not.
What im saying is: there are possible 2 or more sides to this tragic...but CNN only covered one in that broadcast i watched. (while on 2p2 it was already known he might be not as clean as he looked?)
How is this different than blaming a rape victim for what she wore?

Some arguments expose their own suppositions..

The difference would be that CNN didnt cover what she wore.

Well, you got me there. You're right, I would hope CNN wouldn't cover that.

yes, CNN is biased.............. OP doesn't want comments on right wing radio/TV. so i won't make one. but CNN is nowhere near unique amongst major media outlets.

if you want a reasonably balanced take, just watch the nightly news somewhere..... at least with a 30 minute news program, u usually get the underlying facts........ i find the nbc/cbs/abc/bbc/etc. nightly news to be reasonably straight-forward.

the top newspapers in the world (the new york times, washington post, etc.) do a good job reporting on the news. their op-ed pages might be biased and i do find there's a growing blurring on news and opinion but it's minor to moderate at best..... i mean, how can you report the news without being blown away by trump's dishonesty/lying/mentally unbalance state?

Hi,
i can only receive CNN...but given the fact how CNN works these days im sure Fox operates the same in some way.

But just take a look at this:
(CNN)The white woman who called police on a black man in Central Park...

So they hype her as racist...and they do the exact same thing themselves!?
I mean: where/when do these people are gonna draw the line at some point?

Are you intentionally being stupid or just really ignorant of, like, everything about the United States of America?

Before i answer your questions...u do understand that racism is not just a term pointed only to black people right?

You understand racism is more than describing a person's race, right? You're calling CNN racist because they included an important detail in a story about a woman weaponizing her white privilege against a black man, lolol

I hear you...but that small little detail was not only somewhere in the story, it was the headline!
Guess u just dont know better anymore after being brainwashed by the media.

But hey, no problem, im here to help!

All jokes aside...i honestly dont think CNN or any other media platform should use black this, white that. (unless in context of course)

Anyway, the way i see it, i would hunt this dog down to the end of the world if he filmed/scared my girl in public space like that.

He denies throwing the dog biscuits at her.

I think that is an important fact that needed to be analyzed before she was fired from her job. She clearly acted in an inappropriate manner, but if he was throwing dog biscuits at her, he had no right to do it, making her "flight or fight" racist response a bit more understandable.

If he was simply filming her because she was being a jerk, not chaining her dog as Park rules require, he is 100% in the right. It's not even close.

Her race is central to the story. It's not a little detail.

Well...guess u could see it that way.
But if she was yellow there would not even be an article...think u have to concede that right?

She clearly identified him as an African American so he would be more scared of police intervention.

It was her words.

Now, he is no saint. He said he feeds strangers dogs because it upsets them so he can get their attention. Someone fed my dog something that might not be healthy I would be utterly furious.

But, race is central to the story and the video. She was clearly recalling century old stereotypes where frail white women are scared of big black men, and the hero white cop (KKK) rides in to save the day with a lynching.

It's what she did. Now, to get in her frame of mind about why she went that far, the rest of the story needs to be examined. Did he throw biscuits at her? Did he try to feed the dog? Did he aggressively walk to her and her dog before filming?

He's no saint, but she clearly acted in a repugnant racist manner on the video and race is essential to the story.

True...but only if the race was white.
They just write to sell, if u cant see that u def belong to CNN's targeted audience.

Both of them have some loose wires (dont we all?)...guess we can agree on that.

I was just trying to say i think this kind of reporting:
a. is disgusting
b. only stimulates racism
c. is one-sided
d. leaves no room for other opinions
e. destroyed this girls life (financially and/or career)

American news is only designed to sell. Why do you think they all went overboard on COVID 19? Everyone is home. Sports are shut down. Hollywood is shut down for new movies and TV. For original content, the only place you have to go is news. CNN, FOX and MSNBC all had monster rating increases in April. So, use the platform to extend lockdowns and have a captive audience so ratings and ad revenue increase.

There is no integrity in American journalism. They are either pissed off at Trump and feel it is "their duty" to fact check him or are money grubbing slobs. In many cases, both.

Idk about common. Americans are pretty stupid. But our news gives us a lot of opportunities that Europeans don't have, as they seem to often end up falling for the "very serious person" syndrome.
Because our news is so ridiculous and the lies are so transparent, the opportunity to break out of thinking that "this is what serious people are supposed to think" is a lot easier for us. Whereas for Europeans that seems a bit tougher.

I went googling for "very serious person syndrome" because I just made it up and wanted to see if anyone else has similar ideas and found this
One reason that propaganda often works better on the educated than on the uneducated is that educated people read more, so they receive more propaganda. Another is that they're the commissars. They have jobs as agents of propaganda, and they believe it. By and large, they're part of the privileged elite, and share their interests and perceptions.
—Noam Chomsky[1]
It's the whole "poo eating" thing.
But because US news is so absurd people here are given the opportunity to not fall for the bs. The issue Europeans have is being able to stick their noses up and think that they are somehow getting the real deal. I'm generalizing greatly of course as there is "serious news" here and not so serious news in Europe--but I do think there is something behind this simplification.
