AP is reporting that US officials have declared the Capitol secure.

In my opinion, it is symbolically important that congress reconvene in a safe location (I don't know how secure the capitol is for the foreseeable future) as soon as possible and finish their proceedings to confirm the election. The protesters should not be given a victory of delaying the proceedings more than what has happened.

But exactly how it will play out, that I don't know.

I had the same thought. If the election had actually been stolen, I would have no problem with what is happening. In that scenario, more extreme measures than running around the Capitol probably would have been justified.

But the election wasn't stolen. And Donald Trump is the only reason that a large number of people believe it was.
