Inso, no one here thought they were literally writing a check to the scam Foxconn for 3 billion. But you’re insistence that there isn’t actual money being lost is silly.

Wisconsin had already spent 200 million dollars of public money on buying land at inflated prices above market value to gift to Foxconn as of a year ago.

I mean you'll get no real arguments out of me that the general tone of things has went downhill. But I do think a guy who basically has the entire country's attention with his phone is a little different than 2 randos arguing on some random street corner

What do brown people have to do with this? Do you actually think race is relevant in this conversation or is this just one of the typical liberal arguments that you aren't super confident in so you drop the race card at the end to distract people from your actual argument?

Nothing, of course. But it's a gratuitous talking point, so gotta throw it in if someone else hasn't in the last five posts.

The famous Lee Atwater quote lays it all out pretty clearly no? And despite claims to the contrary--the 80s were filled with racial dog-whistling. They've continued on since then as well. Can anyone really say with a straight face that it hasn't been happening since Obama was elected? A quick spin thru the comments section over at breitbart ought to disabuse you of the notion pretty quickly. Look how quickly the support for Trump came together after that announcement speech--hallelujah we've found our guy!!

Can anyone give a credible reason why Trump would pardon Blagojevich? I don't see any upside. Dems hate him. Republicans hate him. He's the paragon of political corruption. Does anyone have an actual reasonable explanation what the thought process behind it was? (Please refrain from cheap "dunks" like he has no thought process, etc.)

I’m always confident in my arguments because I have yet to hear a conservative/republican argument that has ever been correct or even made sense. It’s easy to be confident when The arguments have never been competently challenged.

I absolutely think race is relevant in that conversation.

Simplest explanation is that trump genuinely doesn't think he did anything wrong and that he was grievously mistreated for political reasons. Not difficult to see trump empathising with him strongly. The guy even has silly hair.

Normalizing corrupt pardons and sending a message to his minions that he's willing to abuse that power for them if needed.

Ties to Trump, connections at Fox or donations to the inner circle.

And I don't think it is a cheap dunk to say that there isn't much of a thought process involved. It should be pretty clear by now that Trump's decisions are largely driven by "this could benefit me". I generally try to avoid stating people's thoughts for them, but I doubt many Trump supporters genuinely believe he is much of a public servant.

meh Trump pardoned some democrats, some famous, some black, some wall street, some governors, some tall, some republicans, some short, some later named roger stone, some later named everybody and anybody he wants, some squirrel, some after all i think pardon really is the only remedy given the hoax. but really is about corruption and the swamp. deep state. and look over there. did nothing wrong. and blah blah blah.

Cops, firefighters, and soldiers are indeed public servants. I wouldn't call ANY politician a "public servant". Public Grifters more like it.
