The testing remains an abject failure. Not only can people not get the tests they need, they can't get the results for as much as 8 days, which effectively renders the test useless.

Just another blatant and disgusting failure by the Trump administration.

He has done that on almost every issue where he is basically on both sides of every issue allowing his supporters to pick thru and selectively quote things that suggest he was on the side of right.

That is his biggest failing in this pandemic as consistency of message from Fed, to State to Mayors to Health Professionals is key in times like this. Leadership from top with everyone in line. That is how you get the most uniform citizens response when everyone speaks mostly with one voice and isolation and shaming of any individual who tries to defy things.

Trump has created an environment where not only is defiance of the rules normal but it is expected as he often is shown defying his own officials own rules.
It is dumbfounding because Trump sold himself to the RubeClass as a successful businessman. If that were true he would know that the best use of resources for a situation like this would be a centralized authority where the top talent could manage a successful response for the entirety of the country and oversee the timely distribution of resources and assets. Instead mr businessman said “Let the states figure it out.”

The likelihood that this virus is still roaring come January is significant. In fact a decent chance exists that when we get back into winter and match up with the traditional flu season things could get substantially worse.

What I do know is if Biden wins the election there will be no time wasted in implementing a centralized and coordinated response properly utilizing the vast assets available to this country. This isn’t due to anything special about Biden. It is a shared trait among all adults with the exception of Donald Trump and a handful of others.

I would just pray Trump is able to step aside and let the adults start working during his lame duck period, if that is what comes to be. Right now the best er can get out of Trump is him lying about a vaccine being ready around election time.

That's pretty recent. Before that it was the Civil Rights movement which conservatives also called racist.

Do Republicans want to cut down on bureaucracy?

If it's for immigrants, they want to weaponize it

Quote:
What do you do if immigrants learn how to navigate the latest booby trap you’ve set for them?

If you’re the Trump administration, you set that trap for someone else those immigrants must rely on — such as law enforcement or medical personnel, who submit evidence for certain visa applications.

Last fall, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services introduced perhaps its most arbitrary, absurd modification yet to the immigration system: It began rejecting applications unless every single field was filled in, even those that obviously did not pertain to the applicant.

“Middle name” field left blank because the applicant does not have a middle name? Sorry, your application gets rejected. No apartment number because you live in a house? You’re rejected, too.

No address given for your parents because they’re dead? No siblings named because you’re an only child? No work history dates because you’re an 8-year-old kid?

All real cases, all rejected.
Morally reprehensible, but old news right?

Well the Trump administration went one step further

Quote:
All this busywork took up a tremendous amount of time. But at least applicants had a way to jump through this hoop.

So USCIS adapted — by requiring unsuspecting third parties to clear the same hurdle.

In late June, new fine print appeared on USCIS’s website. It said the no-blanks policy would extend to at least one document that must be filled out by law enforcement officials — someone over whom immigrants and their lawyers had no control. These officials must complete and sign a form certifying that immigrants applying for the crime-victim (U) visa are assisting with an investigation or prosecution.
So now if someone who you have no control over doesn't jump through the impossible bureaucratic hurdle you had to your application is rejected

Quote:
Separately, in recent months, at least two other attorneys have received denials from USCIS for blanks on other forms filled out by third parties — in both cases, a medical examination report required for green card applications. That document is signed by a USCIS-certified physician and submitted to the agency in a sealed envelope. Immigrants are not allowed to even view the completed form to make sure the doctor left nothing blank.
Quote:
This Kafkaesque processing change isn’t merely vindictive. It’s a huge waste of resources, for the people filling out the forms and those processing them. In fact, USCIS is going broke partly because it’s spending so many more person-hours looking for excuses to reject eligible immigrants.

But hey, cruelty and financial mismanagement? That’s practically the Trump brand.
To be fair to Trump, it's the general Republican brand.

Cliffs: Trump campaign official, after getting owned on CNN, slanders the CNN reporter's active-duty husband based on googling his name and mistaking someone else's Twitter feed for his. When this is pointed out, the Trump official's husband doubles down and says "leave my family alone" while making no apologies for his wife's baseless attacks on other people's families

Trump has spent 268 days at his golf courses in the 3.5 years since he was elected. That is only about 90% more than Obama, who Trump endlessly attacked endlessly. Of course Obama didn’t have several dozen days of golf during a deadly pandemic so Trump is the undisputed king of gholes.

I really think and fear, that if the US does not bring base line levels way, way down before fall and winter flu and cold seasons set in, that the US is in for Biblical type calamity and death toll.

The literal shut down and abandonment of health care facility in many locations where the lineups of people just cannot be touched.

All the signs are there now, that you need to get baselines down so when you get spikes your system can handle them as Canada and much of Europe is. But you cannot do it from such a high baseline where systems are already near the breaking point.

Republican POTUS love giving presents to incoming Dem POTUS. Bush handed Obama the Financial Crisis and Trump looks like he will hand off to Biden this mess, maybe times 10.

And then Republicans will try to hold Biden responsible for spending and the economy in the early part of his admin as they try to blame Obama for the deficit spending in the first part of his.

goofy, I don't know this dale guy but a lot of the tweets you post of him seems about very old news?
I'm pretty sure I've read the shower story ,the toilet one and the light bulb months or a year or 2 ago.
Or Dale is reporting Trump is telling the same story over and over?
I'm really confused, either I have read these before or I'm a precog.

edit: and the pre-existing condition story is old too, I mean this has been a key point in his brainwashing lies for years.

Right. Trying to pass legislation that is popular with their voters and that they'll use to help them get re-elected is cheating. Everyone knows real representative democracy is passing legislation to help your rich donors, and then spending their donations at your own properties to line your own pockets.

Can you give cliffs as to what you are highlighting in this?

this is the transcript of Trump speech by the white house, and it shows that Dale tweets were Trump repeating same stories at each rally, some of those being:

Quote:
No, I was with somebody and they said, “You know, for a dishwasher, we don’t have enough water, sir.” I think the — a lot of people in the audience would understand what I’m saying. They don’t have enough water because they put restrictors on, so you don’t have any water. And I said, “What is that? What is that?”
Quote:
And I was just saying to your brilliant people that are doing such a good job running your company, I said, “How much impact has that had?” They said, “Unbelievable. It’s been unbelievable.”
Quote:
So do you notice — the people that make the machines, you know what I’m talking about. We now have the water that you need — instead of stupid, where you have much less water than you need, and you just keep going over and over again. I had people say they’d press the button five times. They didn’t have enough water.
Quote:
And the same thing with sinks, toilets, and showers. You go into a new home, you turn on the faucet; no water comes out. You turn on the shower — if you’re like me, you can’t wash your beautiful hair properly. (Laughter and applause).
Quote:
And one other thing I did: Remember the old lightbulb? The old lightbulb was so great, and they put it out of business. It was much cheaper, and it had much better light. And you’re all good-looking people, but you look better under the old lightbulb than that horrible, new lightbulb.
I'm not gonna quote the whole transcript.

edit: one more )
