The Irish were heavily discriminated against for centuries (up to the mid-20th!), but you wouldn’t have a clue, would you?

btc,

I apologize. I have misjudged you. I'm glad for another freedom lover who supports the human right to migrate.

the weird thing about trump's defense of abducting kids and imprisoning refugees is he chose to do it to satisfy the right wing stephen miller types, but then publicly he says it's the same as obama and he's no different than a radical communist who founded isis when it comes to immigration. so how can dems even message against that? anybody can choose to believe any part of that and feel good about the whole situation, easy peasy.

The whole "just like Obama" isn't for conservatives though, that's a gambit to disarm liberals.

TRUMP took a few questions before he got on the chopper late this afternoon. He mentioned the claim that Omar committed immigration fraud by marrying
her brother. If true could get her deported I read. You can google about this if so inclined. Snopes laid out a strong case that this claim is probably bogus. Other right leaning sites claim otherwise. What is clear is that she has some IRS issues and maybe some campaign finance issues. Of course that won’t get her deported.

Seems like Trump has decided Omar is the nominee

Man, 2020 is gonna be ****ing ugly. If economic conditions deteriorate then all bets are off.

Not even close. Obama stuff was easily disproven.

I heard that maybe Omar is the one who planted the thermite in the towers. HUGE if true.

'Disgusting' seems a better word than 'interesting'.

No-one should have to justify their citizenship in the public arena. It's telling people to keep their heads down or face having a huge bucket of **** poured on them.

It's also part of an increasingly sinister 'go home' campaign

Perhaps you should read the article before, uh, strawmanning?

Strawmanning what?

"Misreading your post." indeed
Laws that apply to populations that have no say in their writing are undemocratic in the most basic sense.

Escaped slaves were lawbreakers too.

Those who hide behind the law usually do so because they lack arguments of moral, social, philosophical, and economic content.

Trump told some members of congress to go home. No strawman here.

Citizenship shouldn't condition democracy anyway.

For those who can get in it, the line can take 3, 4, 5 years, in normal conditions. Imagine a 4 year bureaucratic pause in your professional and family life. It's not easy (i've lived it twice in two countries)

There's some mistake here. btc doesn't think migrants should be locked up. He's not just talking about asylum seekers. He doesn't think any migrants should be locked up.

Its way longer than that for most. My h1b1 coworker needs to wait over 100 hundred years.

Hence the proviso, for those that can get in it.

In any case, 100 years is just a short wait for freedom.
