This always seemed like a backward policy. Will be interesting to see how it plays out long-term.

It wasn't an inherently bad policy, it just ended up outliving its usefulness and being taken too far.

Like many things that seem like a good idea at the time, people don't think about unintended consequences.

AA is a prety good barometer for me for if you actually understand how America works(ed). it also pushes all the "colorblindness" idiots to the front.

You do realize this case was about Harvard. The key admission requirement is $$$$$

not sure what you think this means in relation to my post, but the far more key admission requirement is if your father went to harvard. something like 43% of white harvard student had a relative at harvard previously. it was also about UNC the countries oldest public university.

this ruling will simply lower minority enrollment at all affected universities. this has already been shown to happen in places that have eliminated AA.

the idea that higher education ever was or ever will be some kind of "meritocracy" is a farce only believed by imbeciles.

That pretty much goes against everything our system of Justice is founded on though. And basically incentivizes continued discrimination if the only result is ever just--get over it again lol

So how else do you remedy wrongs of the past? Do you think the thief is the one being done wrong when they have to pay back with interest etc? I doubt it. The dynamics are very similar with groups of people--except for the part where it's really easy for people in the group doing the wrongs to shrug and say it wasn't me man. Everyone acknowledges the laundry list of wrongs happened. In all reality things like AA have been pretty minor concessions.

The numbers get stupid big very fast with just something like the gi bill compounded out over several generations and that's just one thing on the list. Why wouldn't a very non-racist person such as yourself not want to right those wrongs?

I'm not a fan of affirmative action, but I do think this decision is hilarious because Clarence Thomas was admitted to law school because of AA, and he really was only put on the Supreme Court because someone was needed to fill the "black seat" on the court.
