I'm not going to take it again just now, but I've probably posted my chart from this test a half dozen times across various forums, including probably even this version of 2+2 politics (just slightly to the right of wiiziwiig in the left/libertarian box).

I have two complaints with it:

1) It's been around a long time and as far as I can tell has never been updated. I think the questions were topical at the time it was put together, and the topicality made it somewhat useful. But the further removed the test gets from contemporary politics the more I think it just misses a lot by not asking relevant questions

2) It's always been obvious that the test is designed in part to promote the correctness of left/libertarian views. Not that I mind, I share those views. But I'm very certain that results tend to cluster towards the bottom left in a way that is misleading. Similarly, I recall the site posting charts where they plot where well known political figures are supposed to be, and I'm pretty sure their positioning is just entirely fabricated.

See also: the Pew Political Typology quiz I posted a while back (results here). That has its own issues, of course.

It called me a Disaffected Democrat.

It's very USA-centric and tendentiously worded.

Test is amusing but mostly worthless for the reasons well named said. FWIW, my results are about the same as OPs. And I suspect that I test more libertarian than I am because of my answers on the religion questions.

Yeah I can see what they are getting at in the questions and I'm thinking this is an unsophisticated question, it's just not a good question, I don't like my options here. Its not that the test is useless, its just not good

That said I'm like -0.77 and -4. The graph below looks most similar. On the 2p2 scale this has lead me to being called a nazi 179,524,617 times. They should color code a section near the middle separately and watermark a swastika on it

This graph has made the rounds here before, and If I remember correctly Inso was the only one who posted results that weren't in the green. I ended up squarely in the green despite general consensus I belong otherwise.

Yea those are fair criticisms. I think adding another dimension to the political spectrum is generally a good idea but agree that the questions are a bit dated. Plus, two people could align on views while strongly disagreeing on how to get there. I feel my results reflect my views, being economically center-left and socially center-down(?), but I could see how others might disagree with theirs. Still interesting to see others' results.

I think this is the analysis you were talking about. https://www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2

P.S. I got "Solid Liberals" on the pew quiz.

ok now that we've all decided we're in the same part of the political spectrum, lets unify behind the least divisive presidential candidate

Spoiler:
As divisive as she is, a Tulsi and Yang ticket would probably win 2020 all things considered.

I briefly posted on a pretty Trumpy forum towards the beginning of 2019, and there were definitely some people there who posted Political Compass charts in the upper right. But there were also some who expected to do so and then were confused about it :P
