American politics is easy to understand. It's basically a dysfunctional clown show.

Closer to a well-oiled machine masquerading as a clown show but that's for another thread-- possibly the Trump thread.

Too bad Valenzuela doesn't post that much.
Ya I agree with what you're saying--maybe didn't word it the best though.

This is a sitewide rule, iirc. It's just never enforced here for some reason.

I am not officially a mod until tomorrow but new accounts like these will have to identify themselves or face stricter than average posting leniency.

This is my promise to you all.
And I would eliminate the Trump bot at the server level so that it never returns.

Possibly more . You might want to reconsider.

Luckbox relishing the prospect of using Gestapo tactics on posters. Didn't see that coming.

Heh. "Both sides" though to keep it fair.
And even though you get a lot of hate here and I threw your name in there and you're definitely a partisan-- I don't think you're one who really contributes much to the tone of this place being as negative as it can be. You usually come off quite affable.

Well...im not posting now am i?
My point is like this: Ive told WN this or that was against forum rules...he said: well: that rule was deprecated!? (wtf)

Anyway...to me it seems like a good starting point for all of us to revise forum rules. (for starters!) (and stick to it?)

Maybe just me...?

So how many mods are being proposed here to take over? I'm just wondering if there will be strong enough unity amongst them in terms of a moderating style to give a clear enough direction on what is allowed and not allowed moving into the post Well named politics moderation. I say this as you have generally seen consistent moderating because it is the one person pulling the strings and we get used to a moderating style (a very effective one at that it has been) but if you have several you may tend to lose sight of what you should be doing. Any ideas from the new mod team about how that is to be addressed? Would you for example seek feedback from Well named in a month or two's time about what could be improved?

I honestly don't understand takes like this, suggesting we had a consistently moderated forum here. I think even WN would admit he got pretty exhausted from moderating it and basically gave up on moderating personal attacks or attempts to separate good-faith from bad-faith posting. Does anyone think the rules written in the forum sticky resemble the forum that this place is now, compared to a year ago?

Are you advocating for the current P&S forum, or for the forum with rules described in that link? Because they definitely aren't the same thing. I'm also curious what the new moderators think, but it generally sounds like they're not that into the written rules either.

Most forums have more than one mod and I highly doubt you will get anyone to handle the moderating individually as was done with WN. Granted that different mods will have different styles and time will tell how the forum will be moderated moving forward.

I think for newer mods the forum sticky can serve as a general guideline for the time being, noting that adjustments can always be made.

I'm in the midst of getting a list. You being a fellow mod can help e out with this. Was neverbeclever exiled? And could you post up a list of known exiled posters?

He was permabanned for his posting here. You'd have to ask WN for a list of exiles, I don't know exhaustively nor can I see (juan valdez and Toothsayer come to mind from memory though)

These three will remain exiled:

Juan Valdez
Toothsayer
FlyWF

I'm a practical guy and thinks it's best not to subject new mods to posters who were bad enough to be exiled.

And neverbeclever has been added to the list.

Juan should be freed. He posted something from the wrong twitter account apparently but what he posted was totally benign. He PM'd me the account in question and yeah-- it was a bad account to be posting from but asking people to vet twitter accounts when posting links to videos on twitter is asking a lot.
Fly should also be freed. He was exiled for insulting me and I don't care.
