But I don't even think this forum is that bad. It's just that there are some threads that tend to be worse than others, and those threads are typically where the hyper-partisan types congregate.
Politics is a partisan topic, in case you hadn't noticed.

For some people it is. For others it's more an objective field of study.
I'd probably push for a partisan bickering subforum as mod.

I do feel like a sort of committee/community driven approach to moderation like they're trying on unstuck is preferred over the more despotic and non-transparent approaches that we've seen here.
There is something to be said for the theory that anyone who wants the job should be disqualified for the reason that they want the job.

Let’s have 2 left wing mods for a change, tired of the right wing mods which have been moderating the politics forum like forever.

The irony is stunning. You’re not here to be anybody’s friend right?

tame_deuces and EADGBE seem like good people so give them a shot.

What we really need is a non american mod.
Also no luckbox or lagtight that should be obvious to anyone.
Spoiler:
and lol at mods not being paid, wtf

Why is there so much hand wringing over the moderation?

There are plenty of sub forums and well populated threads that are total AIDS fests. No one seems to be on the verge of closing them down.

Im fine with a mod that allows open convo but mods purely on a personal attacks basis.

There still may be loads of bad faith posting, but, internet gonna internet.

The only people worse than Americans are non-Americans unfortunately.
Lots of pretentiousness when you have semi-functioning political systems.
It takes a broken system to properly understand the absurd nature of politics.

I think we should let neverbeclever 2.0 mod it for a few weeks and see how it goes. 2.0 sounds like a massive upgrade, after all.

You misunderstood. I'm saying USA is the worst but that having a functioning political system isn't conducive to good understanding.

Maybe if you found a couple of right wingers who could, you know, read, spell, and count, we could see how they do at the modding gig.

People in Latin America "get it" a lot better on average than Norteños do. And Europeans are basically the worst.
Too bad Valenzuela doesn't post that much.

I was just stating: update the forum rules for starters.
And go from there...fair enough imo?

Talk to a Venezuelan about politics then talk to someone from Germany. Do that enough times and get back to me.
Living in a country with straight up blatant corruption makes for a better understanding of the corrupt nature of politics. Pure and simple.
And I'm not saying you can't understand it. I'm just saying it helps. But given the proper bit of nuance that it deserves, it's hardly a hot take at all.
It's like saying which people are best able to understand how messed up the police in America are: people who have to deal with it regularly or people in the suburbs?
Europeans live in a gated community. Americans in a neighborhood that's getting bad, and South Americans are living and breathing the corrupt nature of politics regularly. Obviously the different groups will have different levels of understanding.
Tl; dr. No Europeans as mod.

Sure, I like rules. Did you know that there was one against previously banned posters posting on new accounts?
