[Mod Note: excised from the thread about the killing of Ahmaud Arbery]

Curious what the "SJWs so quick to jump to racism" crowd thinks of this:

We don't know what happened before the video started! And when she called the police, adding his race was simply a factual description, and maybe she felt her life was being threatened, idk!

And people have found out where she works? So vile!

She was trying to get him to stop filming her.
And she went straight to full on Central Park 5. I'd say she's a manipulative woman.

Now, if the cameraman had been stalking her for some time or distance and/or they were in and isolated area and she had legitimate fear then I can see her doing what she needed to do but...she charged him.

I don't think I'm a sjw but this is why you can't just 'believe' women. Sadly.

Well, she said she's not a racist. Case closed.

Just watched the video. She knows she is being recorded and straight up tells the guy "I'm going to call the police and lie to them that you were threatening me." and then when she does call the police, she goes out of her way to mention his race twice and is completely hysterical, even though they are in broad daylight in a public park and at that point he is standing, motionless about 20ft away from her.

Dogs and bird watching don't really mix. Just this morning the dog spooked a Belted Kingfisher* I've been wanting to photograph. I didn't watch the video but I'm sympathetic to whoever was upset about the dog.
*tbf spooking them isn't hard.

Good point.

I thought the camera guy was being one of those annoying guys who films people breaking the rules. Now I'm more sympathetic to him if she was really messing up his bird watching.

If things with a dog go too far south don't overlook smashing em with the Sibley's Guide

Really though, we shouldn't rush to judgement until we've established whether or not he was wearing Timberland boots.

This isn't plausible because only white people bird watch.

Well, he does, and I can't find it now, but he tweeted that he told her this was a dogs-on-leads area, and the sign was right there, and the dog was grubbing up plants in a conservation area called The Ramble, and she said, 'The dog runs are closed, he needs his exercise,' and the guy pointed out that you could let the dog off the lead just over that way, but not here, and the racist lady immediately lost it and called the police to claim that 'an African-American' was harassing her and generally trying to have him shot.

I believe that, despite a public apology, the racist dog lady has now been placed on 'administrative leave' by her employers and has had to give her recently adopted rescue dog back to the rescue home.

She got fired. It reminds me of that one lady a few years ago who made a racist tweet before a flight and when she arrived at her destination, the whole thing blew up, she got fired and doxxed and her life was ruined. Though in that case it was a silly tweet, and this time she could've gotten the guy arrested and HIS life would've been ruined.

I wonder if it's worth making a few, well publicized examples of people as a deterrent to racism? Probably.

Pretty sure the poster you replied to was joking. He has been arguing that the Arbery murder was racist since the beginning of this thread.

She was trying to use race to her advantage.
Is she an actual racist or just a manipulative ***** ?

Who can say for sure ?

I'd be happy if that video was a standard for racism - i.e. when the person literally mentions race.

Or was she just using the perceived racism of the cops as a weapon?

This video should be taught in school. That's the purest and most vicious and dangerous form of racism on display there. It's the same one that the McMichael's exhibited.

She *is* scared because the man in front of her is a black man. She is also a terrible person willing to tell bald-faced lies to get her way, and she happily does so, making race the center point of her lies. She thinks she's not racist because she says "African-American", but the essence of what she does is not different than what started a lynching in the old days.

The fear she felt is the same one the McMichaels felt. It's the fear of a black presence. It's the essential racism.

Okay, I think this answers my question from the other thread: intentionally stupid

Ok no problemo.

So lets say your girlfriend feels uncomfortable...calls the police...and police asks how he looks like and all that...she should say: well, i could tell u that but then i would lose my job for racism.

Thats kinda of your point right?

Is that what happened in the video?

No; it is not.

Maybe engage in some self-reflection, go read some more about this story on the internet, read some perspectives that maybe your dumb ass might not immediately agree with, and see if maybe you come back with a tad bit more understanding about what happened in the video. Because it wasn't someone simply calling the police and matter-of-factly describing the person in front of them.

I'll even give you a hint, a homework question of sorts: why did the woman, before calling the police, tell the man filming her that, specifically, "I'm going to tell them there's an African-American man threatening my life"?

Work on that for a bit, get back to me, we can chat tomorrow. If that isn't too difficult for you to figure out, of course - my expectations for you are pretty low.

Good luck!

Dunno man...my best guess is she felt threatened?

That's the impression I got from watching the video as well. Looks like over-reaction all around to me. She obviously felt threatened that some dude was filming her while she was struggling to control her dog. He escalated the situation by carrying on filming after she asked him not to, and then she freaked out. He could have deescalated the situation quite easily but chose not to for some reason. Then the video ends up on social media and everyone screams racism. I call bull ****.

Oh, and now she's lost her job and had her dog taken off her apparently.
