You know what is a fallacy? Categorising young earth creationism as "disagreeing with the majority opinion of scientists on certain issues". "Disagreement" implies some sort of legitimate debate, not "you believe in science, I believe in magic, tHeY aRe bOtH tHeOrIeS".

If you say that the Earth is round, and I say that the Earth is flat, sure, we disagree, but also, I am just a moron and my opinion isn't worth ****.

Strawman Fallacy.

I do NOT believe in magic.*

I DO believe that the Scientific Method is a valid away at arriving at truth in many cases.

*Except for Penn and Teller, of course.

What would you call belief in the biblical account of creation, Noah's ark, etc.? I think we agree it's not science. I hope we can also agree that it's belief in the supernatural of some description. So, what word would you use?

Good questions. I will give a brief response here. We can continue this if you want in RGT.

1. I don't believe there is ANY "scientific account" of creation.

2. I believe that once there is a "creation", that the Scientific Method comes into play.

That is, evolution, age of the Earth, etc, are subject to scientific inquiry.

I won't discuss this topic here, since there at least two threads in RGT discussing this.

Have a good day. I'm moving today, do may not be able to respond in a timely manner.

Was there a specific moment in your life when you went the religious route or was it that way for most of your life?

No. Definitely 30% do not believe in science.

So you believe in Magic. Congrats. Keeps you young to share ideals with most four year olds.

Attacking the basis of science from a religious perspective is absolutely the worst possible way to approach it.

I specifically said that I DO NOT believe in magic, liar.

I have NEVER attacked the basis of science, liar.

He's not lying, he's taking issue with your definition of your beliefs as not being beliefs in magic, as do I.

Believing the Bible is NOT ANTI-science.

We can pursue this in RGT, if you want.

No thanks re: book recommendation.

Of course believing mythical accounts of creation is anti-science, and it's facile to say otherwise. Same as believing in preternatural explanations for any other phenomena.

I would be willing to wager a decent chunk that there is a significant overlap between those who "believe the bible" and those who disbelieve in other types of science, if you want to suggest terms.

Lol, I know you're joking, but you're kinda giving the game away. Penn and Teller is magic, the bible is real, right? Unless this is some sort of self-deprecating performance art, which I doubt.

Bible is the Word of God.

Penn and Teller are illusionists.

Who is this "sky daddy" you keep talking about?

Please provide a link proving a real life person claiming to believe in "sky daddy."

(This person has to actually employ the term "sky daddy")
