I'll pass. Canada's immigration policy as a whole is a problem. You disagree. Good for you.
the ease to enter Canada for highly skilled professionals (compared to the USA) helps Canada imho, do you disagree?

Of-course. Even a faulty system can have some positive outcomes.

Unfortunately we don't get many of those highly skilled professionals but I'm obviously in favor of immigrants who are a net positive.

Ok. Well if there is a point in the future where you want to do more than raving on the internet about the "millions of indians" then come back to this thread.

Ooh I will. Don't you worry.

Canada will continue to fail its citizens so there will be plenty to rave about.

you.. actually do?

STEM professionals are like 20% of adult immigration more or less, and ofc there are highly skilled individuals outside those fields as well.

/

I get to be very angry about the insanity of more than 1% of population growth per year through immigration (at the current pace), a lot of which recently is low skilled, but very careful not to break the engine of prosperity that you have there in the quality immigration that still exists

Fair enough. I should be more precise in my language.

Recent immigration.

Again. I'm not against immigration assuming what we bring in is a net positive to the country.

You did until recently by my accounting (I could be wrong but I care about this topic a great lot and Canada up to say 2018 was one of the countries I sued as example of smart immigration rules. Switzerland and Australia as well).

Now that I am a BC resident I get to vote and this dismantling of the BC United party pretty shocking . Wasn't Christy Clark at one time in power with this party

Hopefully now we can dislodge the NDP from power

I live in Redneck area so really does not matter but

That was one of the more shocking political sagas of my lifetime. Still amazing that it all started because of rusted posting climate denial BS on Twitter, gets kicked out when refuses to delete it, and this is all basically his rather successful revenge tour.

If you don’t care about climate change (and a whole other range of policies he has swung far right on from the already right BC united) then you should vote for him.

A vote either way has no impact on climate change

Great discussion about BC here by your fav Jordan Peterson

I guess if nothing matters ever then every jurisdiction on the planet should elect climate deniers who plan to shirk all responsibility and do nothing for the problem.

Jordan Peterson is an idiot.

Or, maybe, hot countries should care about something that damages them more, and cold countries shouldn't, because we don't live in a single country, and there is no moral imperative to care about strangers in general, especially if they aren't even citizens of the same country.

Not a fan of Peterson either but he's far from an idiot. I know he hurt your little feelings with his tweet about Ellen Page but he was 100% right.

Alright kiddos, things are about to get interesting in Canada. NDP out of confidence and supply: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.6499915

Of course nothing the NDP is going to do is going to change the tide that is going to wipe them out with the liberals, but we can't blame them for trying. Not that I think this whole liberals too beholden to corporate greed schtick is going to resonate.

I doubt Jagmeet topples government. The NDP have done nothing to gain votes as they have been Trudeau's bxxch the whole way

I wish we had a real die hard NDP supporter ITT because I find their messaging so weak and really need someone to explain it to me like I'm five sometimes. In Singh's video the real criticism he levels at the liberals is that they are beholden to corporate interests. But like what policies exactly is he talking about here? With the conservatives I think their criticisms are at least about things Trudeau actually does like the carbon tax or whatever, it's a real policy difference even if the conservative are deceptive in how they speak of it. But like what's the big example of corporate greed here, I guess the binding arbitration on rail strikes? Maintaining harper era corporate tax cuts? Buying up trans mountain and getting the oil pumping? SNC Lavalin still in 2024? I guess?

It just seems like a pretty shallow slogan.

I think it’s more of they dropped in the polls (19%). I doubt this changes anything as the conservatives will be quick to put a non confidence motion on the floor and will see how he votes

I agree with your analysis 100% it makes no sense .

Mark Carney as an advisor Sorry Justin the only thing that may save the party is him as the new leader .

I saw one of his comments

Quote:
“We need real policies, we need solutions not slogans, action not indifference,” Carney said in what sounded like a slogan.
