I'm not sure if your mocking him or think this is a good thing ?

Let's say you have 100 MPs and 25 are women and you have 20 cabinet positions appointing 10 women just be woke is nuts. If you want to appoint all 20 as women because they are the best qualified I support but just appointing them because their women please

This visit was good for Trudeau few days of no China election interference

Why is the first place you go to?

I'd say that a "woke cabinet" take (which I'm not saying you're embracing) is a lot like the most recent SC appointment in the US, where people got all excited that Biden vowed to nominate a black woman. One can put together a list of people that would be qualified for the position, but I think it would be nearly impossible to be able to come to an objective ranking of all the candidates, so choosing one of the very qualified candidates based on diversity seems like an excellent idea. The same goes for cabinet positions IMO. Once in a while an MP/Senator/Congressperson will have outstanding qualifications for a particular cabinet position/portfolio, but that's rarely the case. Additionally, people are often getting such positions as rewards for loyalty, geographical representation, political considerations, etc. Why should using ethnic, cultural, language, or gender diversity cause us any concern? On the contrary, I think we should be concerned if it wasn't a factor.

I'm not sure if your CDN but you do understand our woke PM whom picked a 50% female cabinet had one cabinet minister say he used her just cause she was black and resigned and he fired two other women for standing up for justice and the truth .

Yes, yes, you are a card carrying member of the crowd that Biden just hilariously mocked in front of the whole world.

I'm honestly not sure what your point is given my post that you're responding to. I was attempting to make a very general comment that using diversity as a major deciding factor when appointing cabinet ministers isn't necessarily a problem, and in fact can often be a very good thing. Whether Trudeau is or isn't too woke or whether he's simply being performative really wasn't my point. Nor was my point to praise Trudeau or Biden for doing a great job with every cabinet/ministerial choice.

Usually I'm the one with the bad memory, so I won't judge, but I've posted many times in these forums about where I'm from - enough so that during Covid I sometimes felt bad for mentioning yet again what BC was doing. I've lived my entire life in the Greater Vancouver area. Also have some family living in what I *think* is now your area - they used to be in Kimberly, but are now at Was lake not too far from there. Also used to have friends living in Invermere.

They actually released an album (in character), and while most songs are (I assume) forgettable, their version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is pretty funny and got (and continues to get during the holidays) more air play than one would expect.

Yeah, like most places in North America (worldwide?), rural BC runs a lot more conservative than urban areas. Although there are some rural areas where you get more of the progressive hippy phenomenon; I think that's more of a Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast/Gulf Islands thing.

BC as an NDP hotbed or at least somewhere that they have a chance, is a pretty recent phenomenon. 1952-1991 was the right wing Social Credit party's time, interrupted by one term of the NDP in the 1970s. Two straight NDP terms followed by another 16 years of BC's strangely named right wing Liberal party. Now we've had NDP back for almost 6 years again. Will be interesting to see where the next couple of decades go; I think the NDP will remain relevant.

Surprises me that law enforcement goes for the single license plate system anywhere. Must be a PITA for parking garages as well.

Real Canadians drink Pilsner .

Aghh the days of those stubby bottles

Government liquor stores suck as well here . Beer selection is the worst .

I bought 6 bottles of wine and you always get a discount at Liquor Depots in Alberta . I asked the gal at the till if I get a discount she laughed and said Government no discounts

Canada sounds like a horrible place. Throw in Justin Castro as well and yikes.

But seriously though, I have been to Vancouver and loved it. One of my favorite cities.

No Canada is an incredible country just under horrible leadership.

Vancouver is gorgeous . Places to see Banff/Canmore or Jasper Alberta and two beautiful cities Quebec City and Ottawa.

On another note another Budget deficit of 40 billion. Under Trudeau our debt to GDP of 117.8 % prior to this projected deficit before he came into office it was 32.5%

With no projections to ever have a balanced budget

No it’s not .

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/GGGDTACAA188N

It was around 91% debt to gdp in 2015 now u say it’s around 117% .
Not bad considering the covid crisis .

And btw you uses all debts when u speak of 117% debt to gdp ……
Like jt was responsible for provincial debt too ?

If u want to speak only about jt it’s more around 1.2 trillions in debt
https://www.debtclock.ca/

Gdp around 2 trillions in 2022 .
So it’s around 60% debt to gdp for jt on federal level .
I think you are right it’s was about 30ish % debt to gdp on federal basis in 2015.

This is the person hired by Harper, right? And been a senior members of the ethics office ever since with zero complaint from the opposition until now? And this is a temporary appointment where it completely makes sense to put in place a senior Harper hire internally for six months while going through the legwork of selecting a permanent replacement?

Worth noting that there two the special rapateur is a Harper appointee. You'd think the conservatives would be happy to have all of their team be appointed!
