« The Bank of Canada could lose $3.6 billion to $8.8 billion over the next two to three years, a new report from the C.D. Howe Institute said ».

« The loss of revenue means the federal deficit — estimated at $36.4 billion for 2022-23 in the October fiscal update — will rise. Covering the Bank of Canada’s losses will also increase debt payments by $90 million based on a 3.5 per cent borrowing rate.«

For those who think today’s Interest rates will last a long time ,
if the BoC can’t even manage a surplus with such high Interest rates ,
passing the bill to the government ( to us Canadian people ),
How can we expect regular business and people not having problems too ?

Imho it’s unsustainable , those rates will come down much quicker then people think .

I wonder what Trudeau does..... I'm not sure why Japan can't just build more solar panels and wind farms.

Strange I just read an article yesterday that Canada and Japan reinforces their corporation with energy.
Expecting to do so through the LGN terminal in BC ready in 2025 .

Is this the same guy ?

You could just read the article linked in the tweet from apple.news.

Quote:
Kishida’s visit to Canada was part of a five-nation tour aimed at building trade relationships. Japanese companies are looking to invest in Canada, Alberta specifically, in areas of greener energy such as ammonia and hydrogen but, right now, they need natural gas and were hoping to find a reliable partner in Canada to replace the 10% of their supply that currently comes from Russia.

“We didn’t get any concrete commitment,” Kishida said when asked about getting increased supply from Canada.
Quote:
Kishida’s frustration was clear as he responded, saying that his country wants to move away from fossil fuels but isn’t there yet and still needs natural gas. He called it a crisis in energy ever since Russia invaded Ukraine last February and was hoping for help from Canada.

https://www.lngcanada.ca/about-lng-canada/

« LNG Canada will export Canadian natural gas to Asian markets, and in the process, put Canada on the global map of LNG exporting countries and create a world-class liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in British Columbia and Canada ».

A 17 billions project already employing between 5-7500 workers for building it and u think JT doing nothing ?

As I said it previously, I read it in an article already ….

https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle...a-gaz-liquefie

« Le Japon et la Corée du Sud ont investi dans la construction d'un premier terminal de gaz naturel liquéfié à Kitimat, en Colombie-Britannique, dont les activités doivent s'amorcer en 2025 ».

It would be strange Japan wouldn’t get lng from Canada when they were part in the investment for this terminal and it’s goal is to deliver lng to Asian market…

The problem isn’t to be pro lng, not wanting to export lng …
it’s about an increase of lng for Japan but remember when u complain about Canada not doing much for Germany lng demands ?
U seem to think Canada is a lng big player and could provide for everyone but we aren’t and if we wanted to be , it takes years to accomplish and cost a bundle of cash to build one .
It ain’t that easy and what would happen if Putin dies tomorrow ?
by magic a lot of supply problem of lng disappear very quickly and prices goes down dramatically too .
U ready to spend 15-20 billions of profits to build more lng terminal ?
That is how the US shale companies collapsed in 2015 and the majority went bust in 2020 .

Ps: I’m Not mentioning the hurdle of financing now big project like that , where 0% interest rates is history in todays world ….

You really have no idea what you are talking about and I'm not sure why I waste my time. In 7 years USA went from exporting little LNG to being one of the world's biggest. Since Trudeau took office 15 companies wanted/applied to build LNG projects, none have been completed.

Exactly !
And when the demand climbed to make worthwhile a investment of about 15-20 billions ?

Who cares?

Our allies are still asking us for more LNG and we are turning them down and giving them lectures on decarbonization. 15 LNG projects never got approval under Trudeau. Germany just built an LNG terminal in 10 months.

That is what my point is Montreal seems to be trying to give credit to Justin for our increased export when he has nothing to do with it and just keeps putting more and more hurdles in place

As much as Trudeau disposes the Saskatchewan and Alberta's premiers there is still a matter of political respect. Sadly he has none .

5.3 million Cdns suffering from food insecurity and he presses ahead with a carbon tax

Oh absolutely, I'm sure you've totally jumped on political decorum and respect at precisely the moment Scott Moe decided to have a hissy fit and whine to the media because of course you care deeply about this issue.

Your concern about food insecurity is noted. But it is bizarre to focus on that issue when voting for the conservative party, which historically and by platform pledges significantly less financial supports for those affected by food insecurity than the liberals. It isn't really close.
