Oh, for sure. The direct result will be small or non-existent, but no question the smaller parties can have an indirect effect, and given the right circumstances, possibly a significant one. Especially as long as we have minority governments.

Ill bet $100 he doesn't gain a seat with you . Heck Ill even do it as a donation to the charity of the others choice
Meh, I already donated $100 to a charity on a "bet" I probably will win on another forum that truth be told I barely remember and would not remember if I won or not, so I just donated the money immediately so I did not have to worry about it.

As I said - I do not like to gamble for the pure sake of gambling, I only like massively +EV situations to go nuts on. Do I think the Liberals gaining a few seats is massively +EV? Nah. They probably will lose a couple seats while keeping a minority, but why not toss out there that I will take a contrary position to you for fun. If it works I bring it up once in a while, if it does not I say that I knew it was not that great a spot. See what I am doing- I am Trumpspeaking you . I do not care for what that guy represents, but I do respect him for the skills that he has.

I do not recall the charity Bobo supports, but I know he mentioned it in a bet he did with another mod (that was not even close to being a fair bet, I think Bobo took the easy win side). I am fine with a whatever wager if you like and the loser donates to that charity. I probably will donate again win or lose. You can do the same or not. Maybe Bobo will as well. Will make the election night a bit more fun! I tend to support very narrow local organizations with time and funds, so they are probably not the ones you would donate to for obvious reasons, so you can donate to whatever you want as charities go, though no political parties!

Sounds good no bet than. Will see who is right.

Both are fighting dirty now . I thought O'toole might not go that route but....

This has been an unusual election cycle. I get the gamble Trudeau took, though I did not really agree with it at the time, for many of the reasons that came out after (seemed opportunistic at an awkward time).

I do not think he is running a stellar campaign, and the what a cute, young guy thing wore off by now, so in theory this was a great time for the opposition to win, but the PPC derps really are derping it up and while the NDP started pretty good it seems they are fading some, so Trudeau might win partially despite himself. It almost feels like a change (as Canadians do at times) is needed, but really the other options have hardly presented themselves in a way that makes one motivated to do it just yet, and not everyone hates Trudeau like you in the end!

Good luck!

It's going to be really interesting to see the final numbers and how it plays out. We'll see if Otoole pandering to liberals is actually going to have him gain any votes. Maybe he'll win just because people are sick of Trudeau.

It definitely feels like it should have been a "we need a change" type of election, but noone really had that dynamic a campaign and the PPC derps really tried to derp it up big time, so guess we will see if they managed to achieve their goal of getting Trudeau in for another term.

With the kids back in school now this is really noticeable.

Honestly asking if any of the candidates have come out with a plan to tackle this issue?

I do not think one of them has a fiscal path that is realistic. O'Toole is talking 10 years to balance the budget and the rest have no plans. Not sure about Mad Max

Shifty, are you able to tell the difference between a transitory modest boost to inflation as a result of a supply-constrained reopening of the pandemic after he pandemic vs a structural long term high inflation period due to deficit spending?

What economic factors do you look for to tell which is which beyond Bernier tweets?

To be fair - "Keynesian apparatchiks" is a complete winner as slogans go. Very catchy.

Hospitals, Schools its all disgusting. To bad were in the middle of an election otherwise we could get all the members to vote on a law to prohibit this.

why TF we should need laws in the first place ?

Isnt that just a proof how freakn imbeciles they are and no logical reasoning ....?

And they are the ones saying people are bad when antivaxxer dying from covid have no compassion for them , while they are blocking ambulances themselves and go scared little kids at school...

Libs back on top after the debates in the aggregate trackers. With a tiny popular vote margin, but a bit of a lift in the seat margin due to efficiency. PPC is stalled.

Meanwhile O'Toole's keeps getting closer and closer to keeping the liberal carbon tax around: https://www.thepeterboroughexaminer....-minister.html

Ultimately the price ($50 vs $170) is more important than the mechanism, but sure is a great way to resolve the massive beauracracy problem of creating a tracking system for every cent you spend on anything carbon just say ok provinces, that's an option, you do all the work.

That is great from Bernier .
Has anyone bother asking him , is there any countries in the world that do not suffer inflation lately because of covid ?
Blaming Trudeau is lol .

Ho yeah I forgot ?
Since inflation is a world phenomenon due to covid and money printing (Bernier claims) all over the world , why on earth Bernier is complaining ?
Oil will go up
Commodities will go up .
The dollar is a commodity value based .
Canadian dollar should go up no ?

I've been at bit consumed with other elements of the news cycle for a bit, and so haven't paid as close attention to covid alberta as normal. But HOLY **** you people dropped the ****ing ball there.

Kenney gets zero - absolutely zero - credit for belatedly telling the truth. And he does hit the biggest factor:

Quote:
Kenney: "Covid is hitting Alberta harder than anywhere in Canada because we have the lowest vaccination rate in Canada."
But also, the terrible public health policies.

Yup. I've been becoming more aware of the issues there as we just moved our daughter over to UofC where she's taking her masters.

I remember some time ago that people ITT were suggesting Alberta vaccination rates would be low, then they seemed to be keeping up and there was some comebacks by a couple Albertans making fun of the first group. I stopped watching their vaccination rates after that, but was looking at them again a couple weeks ago, and...holy ****! Seems like they capped out a lot earlier than other provinces, and are running 8.5% below the Canadian average for % of fully vaccinated of total population (and over 10% behind BC). 60.1% fully vaccinated, 70.5% of 12+. Holy hell! Hopefully this state of emergency and Kenney's rather belated realizations will wake people up. I feel bad for people like our daughter, and the millions of Albertans who are doing the right thing, while other dorks **** it up. Just like everywhere else, of course, but much worse in terms of numbers.

Alberta is a shitshow

Only imagine if he came out and said "Im not going to apologize for protecting Alberta Jobs"

Sadly when people die and you would not listen to experts a apology is not going to cut it. I credit him with admitting a mistake and apologizing but he is done as the leader of the UCP
