Not sure about the national one, because it doesn't apply to provinces who have their own. Here in BC, definitely not for everyone - there is an income cap. I *think* it's the same for the national plan, but I'm not positive.

I could be wrong on some of that; I only researched it last night after reading about it in this thread, and thought I should make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

Canada's biggest covid leak is truck drivers entering from the states. But this never gets mentioned by media or gov. Random sample testing or temperature taking would yield positive cases throwing critical logistics into a shitstorm. So keep our biggest leak flowing and then ask what more can we do

Sadly I am not sure we will be able to out vaccinate the variants.

Here in Edmonton the Astra Zeneca Vaccine center was quiet .I was comfortable waiting for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as long as the demand was there for Astra Z . But since demand was not there and the new variants I took the plunge and got the Astra Z . No appointment just dropped in and it took 20 minutes and 15 of that waiting after

I think the USA suspending the J&J based on a 1 in 6 million rate and women only was irresponsible and will have an effect here on Astra Z

Toronto police say they will not stop random people/vehicles

Ontario is a sick joke. Forcing people indoors in the spring is ridiculous and counter productive. I understand covid is a moving target, but the amount of flip flopping and mixed messages is ludicrous. Idk how anybody can still have faith in this government

And lozen if it's my turn and they only have az vaccine then that's what I'm getting too

Frustrating how ****ing selfish people are. I have a friend whose wife is a teacher. She is on leave due to baby. Teachers are offered the vaccine early, and the friends wife booked an appointment. Got an email later that day that made clear people on leave are NOT supposed to get it. They are keeping the appointment. For ****s sake people, why are we all so selfish and thinking about our own best interest when the pandemic more clearly than anything else highlights the importance of doing what is best for the community?

Sigh, looks like lozen's numbers are part of a legit problem with AZ vaccine hesitancy: https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...trazeneca-jabs

Just did an ourworldindata comparison between UK and Canada and HOW did their mass adoption of AZ make an absolute world of differences, case counts have just absolutely plummeted.

The AZ hesitancy is an interesting one, but in Ontario that is not a factor like in Alberta. You cannot get a shot if under 60 regardless of which one. There just is minimal vaccine, and pretty much every shot here is going into an arm, so it is kind of weird to read that story. Guess we will see what happens in Ontario whenever supply increases, perhaps by fall or winter.

Well, he did campaign on buck a beer, so this is a tad above his pay grade. He did get out of the medical people's way unlike creating an anti-science derposphere (aka Trump), but his government is definitely making some awkward and inconsistent and impulsive choices, and that eventually will be part of the next election landscape.

Though I have heard folks are more comfortable with pharmacies over these large immunization centers

This might sound stupid but I also said If Rob Ford can the AZ than I can also

Id like to see provincial leaders if they fall in that age range get the AZ.

Lets put some of the blame also on the USA for banning the J&J which had less of statistical chance of getting blood clots than the AZ. Lots of folks will sat well if they paused the J&J why are they not pausing the AZ

Watching local news last night and they said AZ is one in 250,000 no clue were they got that number

So here is my question on AstraZeneca . I watch US news and their argument for suspending J&J is heck we got lots of the other vaccines. Though the J&J was being used in communities harder to reach.

So the AZ has anywhere from 1/25000 to 1/250,000 and 1/1,000,000 cases and thats folks under 55.
https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/alta-hea...rges-1.5389563

I watch Dr Hinshaw say if your hospitalized by Covid you have a 1/4 chance of blood clots. Why are we not opening up the AZ vaccine than to anyone that wants it?
This is what pisses folks off the Science you use to justify giving it to 55-65 your not using on the other ages.
Watching Global last night a pharmacist in Vancouver says 8 out 10 folks say no way to AZ vaccine
Kudo's to your premier as well that got the AZ shot

Just me ranting. Spoke to a buddy in Calgary that originally was a no to AZ and had the same conclusion as me him and his wife got it. He had the same issue as I did family members saying do not do it

Risk involved with a vaccine can't just be weighed against the risk when you have the disease, but must be weighed towards the combined risk of getting the disease and how it plays out if you get it.

Thus two countries can assess the risks of the AZ-vaccine quite differently. One country can look at its numbers and say "for us it is safer to wait" while another can look at its numbers and say "for us it is safer to not wait".

Looks like a decision was made, because Alberta is opening up the AZ vaccine to anyone over 40 starting tomorrow.
