Tucker Carlson admits it was a mistake to focus on Biden's mental state after debate performance

Quote:
“The main thing we learned last night is that it was a mistake to spend so much time focusing on Joe Biden’s mental decline,” Carlson said. “On stage last night, Biden did not seem senile. If you tuned in expecting him to forget his own name, and honestly we did expect that, you may have been surprised by how precise some of his answers were.”
If only there was some way to have predicted that.

Question is does Joe Biden go back to his basement now knowing how close he is to the top job now especially knowing that Trump is out of commission at the moment to avoid any risk of contracting covid?

They should just continue following CDC guidelines and not change anything. Unlike the President's his team seems to know what it is doing.

Trump's attacks don't seem to be working

Quote:
It’s hard to stress how rare it is for a presidential candidate in the modern era to have such a high share of the vote at this stage,” Nate Cohn wrote in his daily analysis of the polling on Friday. “Just go back through the last decade of Real Clear Politics averages, and you’ll find there’s only one instance when a candidate eclipsed Mr. Biden’s 52 percent over the final few months of a race: Barack Obama on the day of the 2008 election.”
......
Since September, Mr. Biden’s net approval rating among registered voters has grown from 42 percent to 51 percent, according a survey of 2,019 likely voters in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin from Oct. 2 to Oct. 7 by two Democratic polling firms working with the PAC.

So as someone who was continually critical of Joe and his debating killing his enthusiasm I will eat some crow here.

I saw the debate as having no upside for Joe but the big threat of downside, if he stumbled, and that remained true, I believe.

What i did not foresee was Trump stumbling so badly and thus moving more undecided to Joe.

That is not really enthusiasm for Joe per se, as much is it is them giving up on Trump as an option but whatever, it lands them in them in the same place.

Your mistaken view (which I was at least sympathetic to even though I didn't fully agree) highlights the folly of Trump's bizarre debate strategy.

The debate strategy even though bizarre was exactly what Trump had to do if he wanted to rattle Biden and even though it didn't entirely work as Biden performed better than I expected despite the constant interjections and attacks by Trump it shouldn't be something that Trump drops for the next debate as he needs that gotcha moment for Biden where it becomes a gaffe that enables Trump to keep replaying until the end of the campaign. Bottom line is what we saw from Trump in the 1st debate should come as no surprise to anyone.

I fully agree that he should continue to use an approach that caused him to drop a few points in the polls the first time he used it, as it will definitely be way better if he tries it again. He may even drop 5 points the next time! Your assessment is perfect and you should write Trump's team to strongly encourage your well thought out doubling down strategy.

All the best.

But you're not criticizing Donald Trump for announcing no plans for anything. You're selectively criticizing Joe Biden for not announcing his plan on one thing and acting like that makes him "arrogant".

Like, you're telling me voters might elect someone next month who hasn't announced his plans in one specific area! To the fainting couches! HUGE IF TRUE! LOL

the deplorables are absolutely sick that biden is correctly ramming through a populist economic strategy in the rust belt. "but his court packing" just doesn't quite have the same ring as "but her emails"

I am very much biased to believe this is true, someone mentioned that there was one time Atlas shrugged and nobody much cared.

Any other real world examples?

His answers are constantly 2 weeks away, just after infrastructure week. Trumpers are happy with that, which is why they are trying very hard to not allow Biden to get re-elected. Perfect campaign by the Trump team and his followers so far, and let's hope they stay on that path for the last few weeks! Emails! Emails!
