The Seattle mayor has a D next to her name. The city of Seattle has enacted a few progressive policies. The Seattle Police Department is not remotely progressive. Arguing that because the first two things are true, the rest of the whole system must be far left is absurd. I'm not sure there is a police department in the US outside of Camden that has the remotest claim of being progressive.

I live in Seattle and have been to CHAZ. It is pretty much what you'd expect out of a Seattleite run hippie commune in the middle of a popular, young neighborhood in the city but with some armed protection. Which is to say, it is almost the polar opposite of what itshot believes. I don't think many people are surprised by that fact.

I don't think that is something 95% of people want in their cities, so I think the risk for spreading is small; and if that is something that might happen where you live, chances are you are already sympathetic to that kind of stuff anyways.

I'm sure this is true and this is pretty much what I expected was going on.

That said, I'm not keen on the development of long-term, armed, community security forces. Regardless of the motivations for establishing armed community security forces, they almost always evolve in the wrong direction, which is probably a function of human nature.

Actually, CNN spend a staggering 3 minutes on the situation...and ofcourse...2 minutes where for the mayor. The remaining minute was anti-Trump.

You don't have a choice, the anarchist mob runs things, not some policy maker, or elected representative. Seems the lefties are glossing over what autonomous means. They've overthrown the government in those six blocks. They are making the rules for those who are there, and none of them were elected through free and open elections. Again, a progressive, lefty government preceded them, so, it's hard to not laugh at the irony.
