I think any reply at this point would be going in circles, so I'll let this childishly hyperbolic strawman stand as the final word.

FOCUS!
I mean, it's easy to make a conspiracy out of it, but really it's the unintended consequence of wokeness.

I wonder why all the guys who seem so proud of all trump's great works for the black community seem so triggered by this stuff? Weird.

Feel better? I was hoping I was wrong about about this cultural shift being a result of neo-marxism. That its become more pervasive and it's leveraging race in a country with our history, it makes me very concerned about the direction of the country. It really seems a significant portion of the left want revolution based on communism/marxism, and if that revolution starts to occur, there will be civil war.

So the Seattle City Council is moving forward with its plans to defund the police department by 50%. Interestingly, the police chief went on fox and friends to argue how reckless this was in her opinion.

I am sure in most of your minds the fact she even went on Fox indicates she is unclean and must be cancelled. However, the truth is she would probably much rather go on msnbc or cnn to air her thoughts, but they have refused to platform her, because her argument doesn’t fit the narrative.

Seattle mayor announces $76 million cut to police department's budget in 2021

I'm not sure that's 50%, but that's a significant decrease, especially when they have not addressed how they are going to cover the responsibilities the police are no longer going to have.

BTW, by the left's definition, this is systemic racism in action.

Every single aspect of this paragraph was just completely invented in your head and somehow that didn't stop you from thinking it was a good idea to post on 2+2 as a serious argument

Could you please quote a definition of systemic racism made by someone on the left such that this fits it?

City of Las Vegas and the State of Nevada gave the Raiders over a billion dollars, and we are making budget cuts to education. Those budget cuts are going to impact minorities in our schools, which will lead to disparate outcomes. That's an extrinsic variable that will impact outcomes.

The lack of policing due to budget cuts is going to disproportionately impact minorities due to the resulting increase in crime in their neighborhoods.
Quote:
Economic theory suggests police and crime are negatively correlated. However, it is surprisingly difficult to demonstrate this relation empirically, as areas with greater numbers of crimes tend to hire more police. In order to resolve this simultaneity, we begin by exploring the structure of the financial relationship existing between state and local governments, arguing that variations in state tax rates can serve as an instrumental variable for local police numbers. Two-stage least square (2SLS) result show that the elasticity of police presence with respect to crime is about −1.1 for violent crime, and −0.9 for property crime. These results are mostly significant, and are more negative than those obtained under OLS. Overall, our estimations suggest that police does reduce crime.

We present evidence that the use of police statistics as a source of crime data can seriously bias empirical tests of the model of deterrence. We use data for 21 areas in England and Wales in 2001–8. In addition to police-recorded crime data, we use victim-reported crime data from the British Crime Survey that are unaffected by changes in public reporting of crime and police recording of crime. We find that the estimated effect of the number of police on recorded and victim-reported crime is similar for property crime but different for violent crime. Our findings suggest that higher numbers of police not only reduce crime rates but also increase the share of crime, and in particular violent crime, that finds its way into police statistics. The resulting estimation bias is found to be large.

I don’t think the $76 million is half. The $76 million is the Mayors proposal, which probably is a compromise plan. The city council is pushing a 50% reduction plan, and my understanding is they can override the mayor if push comes to shove.

Yeah, no way the city counsel let's that budget fly, as it just moves the call center and parking enforcement to some other entity.

Seattle City Council approves historic cuts to police department budget

Quote:
Councilmembers approved amendments in the plan in the Budget Committee last week. The committee voted to move the bulk of its proposal forward during its 10 a.m. session, before giving its final approval Monday evening by a 7-1 margin. Councilmember Kshama Sawant was the lone “no” vote, while Debora Juarez — who was not present at Monday’s meetings — abstained. Sawant’s vote against the package was based around her belief that it didn’t go far enough in its reductions to SPD’s funding.

Like councilwoman Sawant, I admit I am disappointed they are not going the full 50%, or even 100%. I think it will go poorly, but I don't really know. I could be a resounding success. And knowing I won't personally have to pay for it if things go bad, I am looking forward to seeing how things will play out.
