Clearly the officers were yelling get back, and whatever verbal communications the CNN crew was attempting, they were not moving at all. So seeing no movement and probably not understanding the verbal communication at all, the officers decided in the moment to just start making arrests.

You guys are welcome.
It's possible that the police weren't going to beat, rape and sodomize citizens so they got the cameraman off the streets. But would anyone take that bet ?

So Hue thinks Trump is getting coaching for his 10:00 pm tweets, in this case being coached to signal solidarity to white supremacists??

a whiffle bat isnt inherently dangerous. throwing rocks off an overpass at cars is dangerous and shows a willful disregard for human life. similar to knowingly cutting off someones airway with your full body weight for 8 minutes.

the kids that did the overpass thing in 2017 pleaded guilty to murder 2 i believe.
Well, my ultimate conclusion was that I thought the facts might well support a murder charge. I said that because, at least by a certain point in the encounter, I agree we are in rocks/overpass territory, not Wiffle bat territory. In fact, just before before Floyd lost consciousness, the situation arguably had moved well beyond rocks/overpass territory.

In which case now it's interesting why someone from the Minneapolis city council would be putting out the information that they were both bouncers. I only just now watched the actual clip as I was first going to blame the Daily Caller for putting out disinformation but they are just repeating it.

The point of the story is to insinuate that the officer and Floyd knew each other and this was possibly personal. And of course it is clear why the city would want to push a rogue cop with a personal vendetta narrative. To distance themselves from responsibility. I imagine they would do this even if they suspected the 2 individuals didn't know each other.

Everyone is in damage control mode right now. I would be suspect of the "truth" of any information being leaked. Of course it could be true, but do your own diligence.

There are of course a range of possibilities and I don't think we have enough information to know which one is true, or even to assign probabilities.

1. They knew each other but it wasn't personal. Chauvin would have done that to anyone (black).
2. They knew each other and it was personal.
3. They didn't know each other at all. Just because 2 people have bounced the same bar within a 17 year time frame doesn't mean they knew each other. We don't even know if they ever bounced at the same time.

George Floyd and Derek Chauvin worked at the same nightclub in Minneapolis for the whole of 2019, but may not have known each other

George Floyd and Derek Chauvin worked at the same Minneapolis club for a year, but may not have realised.
Both worked at the El Nuevo Rodeo Club in 2019, Maya Santamaria, the club’s owner until last year, told ABC5. Chauvin was the club’s off-duty police officer for 17 years and Floyd worked as a bouncer during 2019.
“They were working together at the same time; it’s just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside,” she said.
Business Insider story. So Chauvin worked there 17 years (apparently) and Floyd just for 1 year and the lady on MSNBC just got the details wrong and Daily Caller rolled with it to stoke conspiracy theories. Glad we got to the bottom of that one.

Talking about racist juries, doesn’t the DA have to careful here to not give the defense a valid argument for a change of venue? The change of venue in the Rodney King case didn’t work out so well.

I feel the violent protesting is really a bad look. That police office should
Be fired and charged however I don’t think looting businesses are going to make most Americans go omg this is a great response to this tragic situation.

That police officer deserves death. Please don’t hate on this but feel I would rather see looters go after police officer at fault vs looting innocent businesses. I just feel peaceful protesting would really help the African American communities look here.

Yeah, I agree with this. Maybe a better; a more peaceful way of protesting innocent black men being killed by the police would be if they should all instead take a knee during the national anthem or something.
Oh wait, they tried that already and got accused of how bad a look it was.

The protesters aren't violent. The police are violent. The police are using violence against protesters. Protesters are going to the hospital, not police.

Property damage isn't violence. Human damage is violence.

Which do you value more, people or property? Lots of folks are answering that question today.

Wiki says 274k African Americans in Minnesota but that is state-wide. I assume most of that is in Minneapolis-St Paul though.
