The prevailing theories are that what makes people attractive is rooted in signaling good genetics, ability to provide, and fertility.

• someone with a symmetrical face is less likely to pass on substandard dna to offspring
• someone who is tall and in shape is more likely to offer better protection
• someone who is well dressed is more likely to provide a good life
• someone who is young is going be more fertile than someone who is old

we see this mirrored in nature, where some species attract a mate it can range from mammals, amphibians, and reptiles where the dominant method of courtship is defeat all other nearby males and thus show you are the strongest

or we have a much bigger variety in birds where they do things from building the best nest, others who can perform an elaborate dance the best, others who show off the brightest and prettiest feathers (like facial symmetry for us)

the cuttlefish is a very interesting one because the standard method of winning females is by dominating other males in a physical contest - yet, the females will reward the small male who is sneaky and shows his cunning





so, why are we posting this? because there's definitely a "stupid person look"




there is without a doubt a "stupid person look" and they are never physically attractive - so are we not attracted to them specifically because we can subconsciously tell they are not smart and thus poor genetic partners or do they look that way for cultural reasons (and they can be pretty womaned)

but then, if it's culture and not genetic do we then not find them attractive because know it's undesirable to marry someone of that culture?


- and no i'm not talking about "dumb blonde" who doesn't know where nicaragua is and is more about apathy/education than brute intelligence




so is it genetic or cultural or neither?

We’re not going to have this thread for a couple of reasons:

A “stupid person look” is invariably going to be based upon shaming certain appearances that are simply inherent to certain human beings.

Moreover, once we start breaking this down into cultures, the involvement of stereotypes and eugenics-based arguments is inevitable.
