the problem is that the people that say they want that dont actually want that..they want all the right wing racist/xenophobia/bigot **** without looking like they want it...
it's like the people that say they want politics out of sports but you better stand and remove your hat for the national anthem that is for some reason played at every single game between philadelphia and pittsburgh or else...

In theory, yes, but when people use the terms left-wing or right-wing, they almost always are referring to the U.S. political spectrum or the global political spectrum. They almost never are referring to some sort of abstract concept that is untethered from the modern political world.
