Since gender incongruity is by definition a disconnect between ones own, self identified gender identity and their biological sex, I dont know what type of objective criteria an outsider could necessarily use to override that. But that's what discussions are for. Im not sure what the reference to mentally ill people identifying as trans when they are not specifically pertains to, and would have to see that in a context. If somehow the suggestion is that a mental illness somehow causes people to declare themselves as transgender, I can see problems with that.
Sure I am asking about rules here not "being right". The rest is discussion among posters. Including what the definition of every word is I hope.

Mentally ill self defining as trans without being so is what happened in mass in the horror stories of the infamous tavistock clinic in the UK, which has been closed because of massive abuse. That's what we have actual proof on record of.

So we can think the same is happening everywhere leftists have the upper cultural hand in the USA and elsewhere.

In most public arenas you are fully allowed to claim being trans is a mental illness, as it was everywhere in world history up to 2013.

To be clear I do agree that being trans is not inherently mental illness
then why u wanna say it?

lets see:

-can you say it in schools? no
-in governments? no
-on social media? no

- at your private club? depends who the boss is and if you have gay
or trans members, but we are not talking private clubs.

we are talking public. not even the pope says it anymore.
its not acceptable, probably bc it is not entirely true.

I think I'm pretty unbiased when it comes to mods. I did argue with Rococco but he seemed fair.

Browser, I think you should step down. Some bans seemed fine but lately it's just bizarre.

and i'm sure you're a swell guy.

You can say it on x an telegram, you can say it in most schools worldwide, you can say it "in governments" in most countries.

I am in Italy and everyone can say it here everywhere, and a lot of place are far far far behind the curve of Italy.

Or you think your small, extremely minoritarian niche of the world is representative of the whole of humanity?

Even in the USA you can say it in Congress and in any state legislature

No, the left tried to put gender identity as a protected class for speech (so called DDL Zan, from Zan member of Parliament activist) and it was voted against with narrow margins in a epic victory for common sense which then led, among other things, to the first electoral victory of an actual rightwing coalition (no Berlusconi wasn't rightwing) in Italian post war history .

"Gender identity" isn't a concept recognized by law in Italy, there is no statute defining it, protecting it, or disallowing discrimination on it's basis.

We have a very specific hate speech laws which is the Mancino law.

That covers a short list of protected classes which you can't talk too bad about (I am simplifying).

The left tried repeatedly, in 2013-14 and again in 2020-21, when it had thin majorities, to add gender identity to that law list of protected classes.

In both cases the moderates center left Catholics voted against it so it never became the law.

In Italy we don't have a full first amendment (the constitution allows for specific law exceptions), but without a law clearly banning some speech, all speech is allowed.

Which is why we (correctly) allow pro Putin and pro Hamas speech among other things, with no legal repercussions.

We only enforce hate speech laws about flagrant racial or sex based insults.

In Italy It Is fully legal to doubt the extent of the Holocaust even to the point of claiming very few Jews have been killed in it.

But it becomes illegal if that speech is part of an antisemitic speech.

For ex holocaust denial would be part of illegal (criminal) speech if you start claiming the Holocaust never happened, Jews created that idea, and they use it to ask for favors or whatnot, and they conspire against the west with evil purposes et cetera (common neonazi trope).

But holocaust denial PER SE isn't a crime here.

It is in Germany, austria, belgium.and France if google is correct, while Spain has this weird "all genocide denial is a crime" law which should cause the jailing of a ton of communists who deny the holodomor so I don't think it's actually enforced.

ok, I actually don’t want to emphasize this point that much. I was and still am under the impression they have laws against genocide denial.

Those posts have been deleted but were posted. In any case, it is certainly the thread with the most messed up posts per capita on 2p2 in a long long time.
