That covers a short list of protected classes which you can't talk too bad about (I am simplifying).
The left tried repeatedly, in 2013-14 and again in 2020-21, when it had thin majorities, to add gender identity to that law list of protected classes.
In both cases the moderates center left Catholics voted against it so it never became the law.
In Italy we don't have a full first amendment (the constitution allows for specific law exceptions), but without a law clearly banning some speech, all speech is allowed.
Which is why we (correctly) allow pro Putin and pro Hamas speech among other things, with no legal repercussions.
We only enforce hate speech laws about flagrant racial or sex based insults.
