Anyone have a problem with closing the Passport thread? (will give 24 hour response time before taking action)
Sounds good to me.

On a related notice, several posters have ignored forum guidelines and moderator warnings posted in the thread. Actions have been taken, but I have left the debates up since I think people have answered them very well.

Cavs fans burned his jersey when he left Cleveland. while I was sad to see him go, I still rooted for him on the Heat.

most funny is that when he came back to the Cavs, well you could see a few people attending games or walking around town wearing a burned up Cavs jersey.

just bc Lebron is rich doesnt make him a "capitalist." in fact I would argue that his labor has been stolen as he has made the NBA far more money than hes been paid. also hes putting half of Akron thru high school and college which is about the best thing an athlete has ever done in terms of philanthropy.
The guy may have a net worth close to a billion dollars, but he is deemed not a capitalist by Victor. What a homer!

Confirmed. Victor is one of the biggest Lebron slappies to ever walk the face of the earth. Fortunately for Victor, Lebron is indeed the best player of all time and almost as good as Victor thinks he is.

Pretty sure Victor is nowhere as good as he thinks he is.

Wait... the same guy that turned down a $10 million check in-person from Reebok while in high school due to the stipulation that he couldn't talk to Nike or Adidas and then signed a $90MM contract with Nike before even being signed to an NBA contract is not a capitalist? Lmao.

He is a an example of how to not be taken advantage by the "man" in business. Kudos to him, and lol to you.

All of this would be funny if you were 15 and not in your 40's.

I vote merge and via experience can say it is not that difficult for people to follow.

For instance, as I have pointed out the prior forum I was on used that tact all the time. They would have a covid Mega thread but if something specific and tangential popped up that people wanted to discuss that would just get buried in the Main covid thread, they would allow it, its splinter thread, and once that 'specific' topic played out and conversation died they would merge it in with the main thread.

That allows for 'hot for the moment' topics to get some focus while the merging in their waning discussion to bolster the main thread.

But again I am not fussed whatever the choice.

team, i assume it was you who split out the Russia/Ukraine thread from the China one. You (I believe) accidentally used as the Ukraine/Russia OP, a CHina/Laos bullet train post.

I copied the train post into the China thread. I think moving/removing an original post would break the internet.

Thanks for pointing out this issue.

my viewpoint may be sophomoric and puerile (SAT words), but its a lot more nuanced than your whole rich=capitalist.

LeBron is a capitalist. He says he's tight with the former CEO of Reebok who offered him $10 million, but he declined his offer to use it against Nike and Adidas to sign with the highest bidder.

That's not a capitalist? Just because the guy plays a kid's game and sweats for a living doesn't mean he isn't a capitalist. I don't fault him; that extra $80 million looked a lot better in his pockets, I am sure. Look at his other business ventures.

I went to unstuckpolitics for the first time and made two posts and was not only banned within 10 minutes, i was completely erased, including my posts. So much for lib tolerance! Lol

My first post was a video of bill maher talking about democrats misinformed views on covid hospitalizations that is popular on twitter right now. Immediately the first repsonse was "which banned poster are you?"

My second post was a youtube vid of aoc making false claims or outlandish claims which comprised mostly of clips of her gaffs followed by commentary from a college kid.

No warning at all....erased a la 1984!

Why do libs wish to live in an echo chamber?

Lol thats usually the way things work. Why should lebron be paid more than the nba earns in profit? Makes zero sense. So capitalists cant be philanthropists? Lol huh

I never said he should be paid more than the NBA profits. but you do realize there is a "salary cap" that limits how much Lebron can get paid?

in general, no capitalists arent philanthropists. certainly there are exceptions.

anyway, the owners are the Capitalists.

Ok, how much do u think Lebron should be paid per year? I hate the cap too, which is for the whole team, not individual players iirc. I think you might be starting to think like a capitalist and free marketers since you hate wage limits.

Also, throughout us history the biggest philanthropists are rich businessmen, no? Also, the USA gives to charity more than the rest of the world combined, do you consider the USA to be capitalist?

Why did you get banned from up.com?

By your definition, Lebron will be a capitalist soon enough. He already owns a small piece of an EPL team and a small piece of the Red Sox. He has made no secret of his desire to be an NBA owner.

yes that makes him a capitalist! I even mentioned that before. I said it was, imo, offset by other things but theres a good argument there.

and it also kinda like the whole meme about "yet you participate."

one aspect of "capitalist" as a pejorative is that it describes people who us their wealth to oppress, exploit, and deprive others. does Lebron do that? maybe? regardless, the idea that just because someone makes a lot of money does not mean they are in the ownership class. Lebron has worked for his whole life for a paycheck. does he make more from NBA salary or from his business ventures?

Lebron founded his own production company, SpringHill Entertainment. He founded a wellness company with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He owns 19 pizza franchises. He owns stakes in Liverpool and the Red Sox. He makes millions from endorsements. At this point, I would be very surprised if Lebron does not makes more money off the court than on the court.
01-14-2022 , 06:11 PM
I wouldn’t be surprised either.

I get banned all the time for exposing liberal hypocrisy.

Capitalists absolutely do not want to pay their workers, ie Lebron more.
01-14-2022 , 06:21 PM
Looks like a capitalist to me

And he will never be no AJ! Ah maybe he will. What do I know?

Ah, so that's how you've managed to accumulate 10 infractions and 18 bans from 13 different mods in at least 4 forums on 2+2. And here I thought it was just you taking extreme positions at every opportunity.

Those damn lefty mods, keeping a great poster down!
