But, a lot of people mean different things and I find some people who consider themselves not-leftists do embrace a lot of ideas which would distribute power more broadly and some people who consider themselves leftists embrace concentrations of power.
Shrug.
Hi Microbet, missed you!
I’m not mad about the unstuck thing just bewildered. I thought the responses were more insane than mean. Like I was reading that thread and thinking “wat” .
So I just rolled my eyes and went somewhere else.
In my experience authoritarianism is like one of those things where people who are very authoritative are not necessarily dumb but they tend to be less intelligent. The whole idea of controlling other people and what they do, sure it’s a strong sign of psychopathy and being a sociopath but in the real world it’s often just a lack of intelligence or imagination in regards to solving an issue. If the country was solely run by people with 80 iqs they would shoot people for minor crimes and consider it just because that would be their solution to stop “criminals” . And that actually happens . The dumberer you are the harder it is to empathize with people even on a superficial level.
I myself may have that problem on a different scale in certain issues, like how IÂ’m for massive reform ( ending most of the misdemeanor system, ending solitary confinement, ending private prison, legalizing drugs, etc etc) but when I envision the right criminal justice system in my mind it looks a lot like NorwayÂ’s criminal justice system. I wouldnÂ’t say IÂ’m for total abolishment of all prisons and it may be because that idea doesnÂ’t work in my mind because I donÂ’t
see how it could work, and maybe I donÂ’t see it because IÂ’m not very smart.
Actual dumb people are affected much more strongly by this and donÂ’t
see how all sorts of things both major and minor could work with changes.
