Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the Palestinian claims go back that far too. These claims are not outcome determinative, they're just necessary context.


I think about peace deals and how functional they'll be based on recent history.

I'm pretty sad about the whole thing. Nothing but senseless cruelty all the down. This situation has felt hopeless for a long time and I don't see it getting any better.

Only 1/100 x as mad. I.E. if you posted 1 dead palestinian for every 1 dead israeli, they'd be 100x as mad as they are already.

If we go back 2k years I think people say that Israel belongs to the Israelis but the Palestinians say the same thing.


I agree that we should only focus on recent history , like last 200 years?

Am I the only person that sees this as a thousands of years conflict between the rich pale skin middle easterns and the poor brown skinned middle easterns?

In this lens you see Israel as the last stand of the "pale skinned" tribe, and you hope for their defeat so there will be total victory of the "brown skinned" tribe, which you view as a positive?

Civilians in Gaza or members of Hamas?

If the latter, they shouldn’t. Terrorists should be put down.

Also, no Hamas = better lives for the Palestinians.

Does Israel have any terrorists?

Terrorists isn’t a real legal term, they are civilians or they are enemy military forces. It’s binary.

Terrorists are civilians so I’m not sure why people need to try and call them something else. Civilians are protected by the ICC and enemy soldiers protected by the Geneva convention


What protections are the Israelis recognizing?

then militarily analysis might suggest you need to have armed fortifications with hundreds of troops along the border at all times to serve as a deterrence

we're talking about a very small border here

in other words, take off the table what happened yday bc it would basically be impossible

1967: The Six-Day War, in which Israel seized and occupied the West Bank and Gaza.

2007: Hamas take control of Gaza, having won the Palestinian elections of 2006, following the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza (and the dismantling of 21 Jewish settlements) in 2005. Gaza initially had a national-unity government with Hamas and Fatah, but the two factions were and remain extremely hostile, and Hamas people apparently threw Fatah people off rooftops during the takeover. Hamas have never held any further elections.

Hamas claim that Gaza is kept in misery because of the Israeli blockade, made more acute by the fact that Israel controls Gaza's power and water and can turn them off at any time. Israelis claim that Hamas could perfectly well have developed Gaza's economy into a little Dubai, attracting no end of overseas investment, but the blockade and the fence have to stay because Hamas's only policy is to spend money on arms and infiltration exercises to attack Israel.

It's all as pitiful and needless as a bitter, mutually destructive divorce case -- or, if you know your Dickens, the case of Jarndyce v Jarndyce -- where each party treasures grievance above all things.

The US will send a carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean in support of Israel

being stuck inside the med doesnt sound like a good idea.
