After the atrocities of the last few days, huge portions of the Muslim world CELEBRATED. I live in a mild mannered neighbourhood here in Canada. Fireworks IN MY HOOD. Can you imagine? All over Canada, Muslims driving in the streets celebrating like the world cup was just won. Pick an Arab country, chances are they celebrated with jubilation. I'm going to a rally tonight specifically to help heal some of this, because its bonkers.

There is a HUGE part of the Muslim world that wants the end of Israel for Jews (and Jews). Antisemitic attacks the last 5 years are up almost everywhere. I don't need my opinion to demonstrate this truth, I just use the data:

Btw would I turn the water and power off? Power for sure yes. I'm not letting them charge cell phones or any of it. Not till it's over.

Water? That's the one I probably leave on. That said there is still just enough essential water to survive (I think their main desalination plant is still in their control). I think they would rather face a starving dehydrated enemy in the ground incursion than one that is well supplied. But collective punishment isn't legal and they won't maintain global sentiment for long with it. So let's see who blinks first I guess.

Like I said in my very first post, it's awful for the Palestinians. It's been this awful since....Hamas won and became the government, and the blockades began. Imagine a version of the world where Hamas wasn't in charge over there. That instantly improves the situation for everyone.

Why/how does Israel have control over their water?

There's a mix of sources for power and water. Israel sends most of the required capacity to Gaza. Gaza does have a power plant and one or more water plants. I know there's been huge foreign investment into their water situation. But largely given how much their population has grown, they are still very reliant on Israel for a lot (and the 2-country blockades don't help that). They'll be largely safe and supplied in the UN schools for example (the children). But that's not an option for beyond a few days. But that's where you send all the very young kids. There are almost 70 such schools. It's not nearly a good enough solution though.

Probably illegal for Hamas to prevent civilians/non-combatants from fleeing the area too but we all know Hamas can't allow their human shields to flee.

Anyway, they just need to unconditionally surrender because Israel isn't going to let up any more than we wouldn't have insta-leveled Tehran if they took responsibility for 9/11.

Could be a big bargaining chip and an opportunity to broker something next. For the next week it'll be impossible to know what's what. Maybe the next month.

I think whatever happens once the West establish Iran's involvement they need to suffer the consequences. They cannot get away with this. So the US need to send fighter jets in and bomb key strategic targets.

It's funny I got a threatening message from someone reading this. Which makes me sad, because largely I've done absolutely everything I can day to day to try and create as much good around me as I can. Which includes donations to both sides. But that's where we are now. Too much hate. And it's impossible to de-escalate.

I'm thinking it largely depends on if their own leadership allows them to evacuate.

This is my worry. Any country with the means is pretty much going to be forced by the loudest part of their population to go after the source. Israel has a capable army but they're going to want friends. What a mess

Probably won't happen under Biden. Maybe under Obama. But that is the calculated risk that Iran/Hamas took. Only 12 months more of this world mess that Biden has created all starting from that terrible withdrawal from Afghanistan.
