This is why we must side with Israel. It is good to have a liberal country where protests are allowed. The last thing we should do is support Islamists who want to destroy Israel and create authoritarian societies in its place.

There's no evidence in that article of support for Hamas, it's just a smear.

Recognizing a Palestinian state favors all Palestinians and is not indicative of an opinion about Hamas.

The oped also gives no reason to think the recognition of Palestine was not driven by the genocide.
