I think it's every decent person's duty to unite with the common goal of getting rid of Trump, after that we can work out our differences and decide what is and isn't too far left.

Lol yep.

Today's far left liberals (especially on 2p2) refuse to believe an honest to god center-left person even exists.

Of course as usual they are wrong, in fact most American democrats are center-left. The woke Twitter mob and CHAZ do not represent the democratic party or most progressive Americans.

You know that as a racist MRA you don't get to talk about who goes into that group, right? You're in here posting Heather Mac Donald articles about police bias being a hoax while the majority of Americans think you're wrong:

Quote:
Additionally, most Americans said that policing is biased against African Americans. In a new survey from Monmouth University, 57 percent said police were more likely to use excessive force in difficult situations if the suspect is black, while just 33 percent said police were equally likely to use excessive force against white people and black people. Similarly, 57 percent of respondents in a new CBS News/YouGov survey said police in most communities treat white people better than black people.
You probably tell yourself you don't like Donald Trump but, uh, you're definitely in his half of the country simply from the views you express here.

watched don lemon by accident last night. just about puked... he is a joke. completely the same as all the ridiculous right wing radio and fox news types. same arrogance........ and how is he and/or cnn (fox news too) still considered news channel. they shouldn't have WH credentials (and no one dislikes DJT more than me)
As far as this thread goes--there are some actual points that are lurking in here and especially interesting is the claim about Trump helping to shape the Democratic party. I do think that's happening and it isn't something that democrats should be thankful for.
The actual left (if you want to assume that's Sanders) gets pushed out under the need to stop Trump at all costs. Meanwhile the SJW stuff has gotten adopted more and more which the GOP uses as shield against the Democrats. Which is probably why Trump's floor is 40%.
And even though both parties have been on this trajectory of radicalization (which probably isn't quite the right word) since before Trump, Trump still has a lot to do with how the Democrats and the "new left" look in 2020.

so many are focusing on my usage of the word "left" - making a big deal out of it
it's just a word - like many words it doesn't have an exact meaning
it means different things to different people
so much focus on a simple word - it's just a distraction

to answer your question:

I could have supported National Health Care

my dislike of Bernie was caused by his emphasis on calling himself a "socialist"

again, just a word - but a politically charged word that was very unwise to use

it conjures up the idea of the large scale nationalization of private business which is deeply offensive to many people

the reality is that the U.S. for a long time has been a mixture of capitalism and socialism - no need to force people into taking a side and turn off so many people - if he had not declared himself a socialist he could have been a viable candidate - even to me - depending on what he actually said

more answers to your question:

I favor the forcing of greatly more public monies into public schools in underprivileged areas in order to make public schools in those areas approach equality with public schools in locales of wealth and privilege

I favor affirmative action

I favor the use of the influence of the U.S. to cause the undermining of right wing dictators throughout the world

I favor criminal justice reform - particularly so that low level offenders do not receive ridiculously long sentences

I favor action on voting rights to ensure that all citizens have an opportunity to easily cast their vote without political gamesmanship to prevent this from happening

I favor allowing the "dreamers" a path to citizenship

I greatly disfavor demonizing any ethnic group as T has done to Hispanics

I favor not deporting those who have been here a long time and have not committed crimes

I favor exposing the many lies of the conspiracy theorists and possible legal action against their defamatory rhetoric

these are some of them
there are more, but I think that's enough for today

Can you elaborate on this one though? Who are the conspiracists?

first of all, from your various comments, it seems to me like you're trying to play me

so you should know that you couldn't play me on your best day

and today is not your best day

to answer your question - this time - no guarantees of any answers for you in the future:

Alex Jones is an example of a conspiracist
as well as the insane group QAnon

Fallaway has highlighted some of the things the Democrats stand for and what makes the Democratic party the party of modern western cultural values.
What do Republican's stand for?
Going back to the way things used to be?
Indentured servants, child labor, serfdom, woman's right to vote being annulled? I don't know. Isn't that what make America great again means?

So great job Fallaway. I accept you back into our fold.
You no longer have to dwell in the dark side.

Tears are salty and I doubt they go well with coffee, but report back to us.

Other than that, disagreement is good and healthy. It's when politics got people walking in lockstep things tend to get very, very stupid.

Biden says he's for all that stuff to.

Of course he doesn't do any of it if you give him power, he just advances neo liberal policies like all the rest of the 'moderates'.

So yeah. MAGA

So here is my opinion on the state of policing.
The police have become too powerful. As a consequence, many police departments are out of control. This whole thing about protect and serve is hollow and baloney.
Police officers look at themselves as apart from the communities they are supposed to be serving. They only serve their own interests. Most police now, it seems, have a hostile and adversarial view of the communities they are supposed to be serving.
In other words, policing has gotten out of whack. Trying to implement new training and new procedures just won't cut it. It's too late for that. A whole new approach has to be figured out. And if that means starting from scratch, then that's what should be done.

I beg to differ.

Obama was 'better' but look where he left us. A terrible hc plan, unregulated banks poised to rail again, a terrible militarized police state and an economy as rigged as ever.

HRC would have done more of the same.
Biden will do more of the same.

At some point you actually have to do what the people need or you're not going to earn their vote. The Dems quit trying a long time ago. As bad as Trump is, he's a symptom and other symptoms will emerge until we treat the disease.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Pelosi will drop dead. Other than that I don't see any solution in the near term. One way or another the house is gonna burn because no one is paying attention to the smoke alarm.

If you get another term of Trump, you might not have an election in 2024 to vote in.

I don't understand rflush. Not trying to be disrespectful.
The country is in turmoil and all you can talk about is how bad Obama was for the economy. And Obama militarized? Wtf is that. That's a concern to you and yet you see nothing wrong with Trump wanting to bring in the military to our streets. Talk about tone deaf.
You are like the police my friend. Beyond saving.

If the police stopped killing people and certain segments of the population would stop unconditionally condoning their abhorrent behavior, maybe people would not feel the need for an uprising?
When will you acknowledge the problem of police brutality and stop trying to lay blame everywhere else?

Because that would require that the US is still a democracy of some description. Not sure if you noticed, but the current trend under Trump is not in that general direction.
